Giants Draft Targets REVEALED By NFL Draft Expert Dane Brugler | NY Giants News

We’re talking New York Giants round one draft targets on today’s show is Charlotte Carroll who covers the New York Giants for the Athletic. Linked up with the Athletics lead NFL draft expert Dame Bugler. I’ve linked that article down in the comments section and we’re going to go over the names that he brought up for Big Blue. Before we do that though, make sure you are subscribed to the channel. We are closing in on 99,000 subscribers. We are 178 Giants fans away from subscribing to get there. So, if you love this team and you want free videos every day, smash that sub button right now. This is New York Giants now by chat sports and I am Marshall Green. Let’s talk about it. Giants draft targets in round one that come from Dane Bugler of the Athletic. He mentioned like 10 guys on today’s video. Some we’ve talked about, some we have not. Let’s start with the Bayou Bengal, the SEC corner out of LSU. Mansur Delaney. This is a player that I think plays a position of need for the New York Giants. You can always get in a little bit of trouble talking about drafting for positional need. Especially when you’re Joe Shane and you have drafted multiple corners in the top rounds. Deontay Banks in round one, Cordell Flaw and Andrew Phillips in round three. Buger wrote this about Delaney saying not much weight, not much went right for LSU in 2025, but Delaney was one of the few bright spots whether in man or zone. He plays sticky coverage with a nose for the football. You don’t see many players play corner at LSU and turn into bad corners in the national football. If you’re going to line up every Saturday in the SEC and play on the boundary and all over the defensive backfield like he has, uh, you’re likely going to be a good player. 43 tackles, 11 PBUs this year, and two interceptions for him. Another corner that was mentioned by Bugler was Germad McCoy, another SEC corner, this time a Tennessee Volunteer. The only thing with him is he did not play in this past season due to an ACL tear. And even going back to summer scouting and really going through some of these top honor players, this is a guy that was going to be a top 10 pick. And with the injury, who knows what’s going to happen. Uh my guy Joey Peterson, who covers the Tennessee VS here at Chatport, said this about him. Coming in at 6’1 190, McCoy has pro ready size, which blends perfectly with his athleticism, physicality, and ball skills. He’s got the potential to be the best quarterback in the draft. But selecting him doesn’t come without risk given the fact he hasn’t played a snap since December 2024 and is coming off an ACL tear in January of 2025 during offseason conditioning. Still with his mental processing twitchiness and receiver-like hands. McCoy has the chance to be an elite corner at the next level compares to Jaylen Ramsay. I’ll say this. If the New York Giants can leave the first round with a Jaylen Ramsay type of corner, that is going to be a major boost to this defense. I don’t mind taking a corner in round one. Giants happen to have the most success there in our lifetime, but you know, they got to be right one of these days. And if you’d eliminated the ACL tear, this would be a lock of a top 10 pick. Curious to see how he looks in the pre-draft testing cycle. Will he do some drills? Will he have a proday? Will he do individual workouts? Still a long way to go. Let’s go to the trenches. Trenches. And Spencer Fono, the right tackle, is someone that I think is definitely in play for the Giants. They are better on the offensive line, I would say, this year, but the offensive line is far from fixed in terms of future play or pieces that can help in the future being in place. Bugler said this isn’t a Joe Alt type of prospect in this class, but Fono is the best of the group. He is an athletic big man with the right play demeanor to step in and start at right tackle as a rookie. I do like that he does play right tackle a position the New York Giants are potentially going to need. They’re going to have to make a decision on if they want to payor the big bucks over the next couple of years. Look, I don’t think Illuminor is going to take a discount. If I’m wrong, awesome. I think he’s looking to cash in on his last chance to be paid as a big-time player in this league. And the question of if you should pay Germaine Aluminor $20 million is a good one. You could find someone that could hold down that spot for the next 12 15 years in round one. I’m never going to say no to that. Another offensive lineman that is rising up draft boards is Francis Maui Goa. The right tackle for Miami. And like Fono, I like that he does play the right tackle spot instead of trying to take a left tackle like Evan Neil and move him to right tackle. You don’t got to work worry about that footwork. Buger went on to write that. Maui Goa has been very consistent this season at right tackle and some teams might try and keep him outside but his skill set screams guard and above average one in the NFL. That’s always tricky to me like dude 6’6 315 curious to see what the arm length is but if I’m going to draft a player in round one I want him to play the position that he played in college. I don’t want to take him as a right tackle in college and move him in to guard. I don’t love that. like the Giants still need to continue to throw bullets and throw darts at this offensive line. You have one long-term piece there in my opinion. And Andrew Thomas, I think JMS has played at times better this year. John Renan, he’s approaching 30 years old. Will the Giants sign him to another contract when he’s a free agent? I think this uh in the 2027 off seasonason. Greg Van Roen is 35 36 years old. And aluminor is a free agent as is Van Roen. You do have Marcus Bo um who knows if he’s ready to be a down in down out player. Had a good game and then a bad game this year. I don’t mind going back to the offensive line in round one, especially if you think a guy can hold down that spot for the foreseeable future. Let’s go to the defensive line, but let’s stay at the you as Ruben Bane, the defensive lineman, is a player that Bugler mentioned as a draft target for the New York Giants. You watch Bane’s tape. He is awesome. He lines up all over the defensive line. He could do a little bit of everything. The question is, do the New York Giants want to pour gas onto the fire, which is already an abundance of investments with premium investments made at the defensive line. He plays more so on the edge. To make that clear, Dne wrote this saying, “The Giants don’t really need another edge rusher, but multiple teams have Bane graded as more of a three technique defensive tackle anyway. He will be picked apart throughout the the process, but his power and effort are strong selling points. I just don’t know if he is going to be a three technique or defensive tackle. Maybe he’s a 34 edge. Uh I guess 34 defensive end compared to an outside linebacker at 63 275. He’s just a little bit light to go up against guards and centers and double teams all the time. Like, yeah, I’d love to add another pass rusher like him who has had an awesome career, but I just can’t really make sense of doing so. Like, you already have $150 million in a second and fifth round pick and Brian Burns, top five pick on Kavon Tibido. Got to make a decision on his deal this off seasonason. And an Abdul Carter as well. And you’re even paying Chanty Goldston edge number four. Pretty decent edge for numbers. So, we’ll see what the Giants do there. I wouldn’t hate the Bane pick because I do think he’s a damn good player, but it would take a creative defensive coordinator to make all of these pieces of the puzzle fit together. We’ll move to some offensive weapons coming up next. Some guys that you may know and are interested in and want on this football team. So excited to break that down. But I’m also excited to tell you about a brand new sponsor. They’ve been here before, but they are back on Giants now with the holiday season here. Carnell Tate at the Ohio State is a player that has been linked to the New York Giants as it feels like receiver continues to be a top need for this team. What is the future for Darius Sllayton? Yes, he’s under contract for next season, but the Giants are most likely going to cut him after the 2026 season. I know that’s what you do, though. That’s what you think about when you’re making these decisions. He is a T. Higgins type of receiver for me at 6’3, almost 200 lb, still young at just 20 years old. And I think he would be a perfect compliment to somebody like Malik Neighbors. In the article, Bugler said, “A very detail, very detailed wide out. Tate is purposeful with his steps to efficiently get in and out of his breaks or outpace coverage on vertical patterns. He is a monster at the catch point and would compliment neighbors extremely well. He’s got size. He’s got speed. He’s got tremendous hands. He’s been very strong at the catch point and durable as well. And my NFL comp for him is T. Higgins. I would love to add T. Higgins to an offense that already has Malik Neighbors. Another receiver to keep an eye on is Jordan Tyson. He is a little bit more electric and a little bit more dynamic with the ball in his hands than a guy like Cardell Tate. Some people compare him to Stefon Diggs. I think he’s a little bigger than Diggs, but some of those young early days of Digs as a Viking you can see in Tyson’s tape. Buger said a white out who reminds me of Stefon Diggs. Tyson is a fluid athlete who can create his own space and adjust to the football. If the goal is to help out a young quarterback, Tyson would do that as a rookie. His ability to make catches even when he is covered and blanketed is his strong suit. He’s got strong hands. He has a really good knack, I would say, for going and high pointing the football. Like when the ball is in the air, he has a mindset and an attitude of I’m going to go ahead and grab that off the top shelf and then if you throw him the ball in space, he can make it work as well. He plays outside, he plays in the slot. Uh there are some injury worries with him though. uh kind of a lengthy injury history. Tore up his knee in 2022 all in one play. Then broke his collarbone in 2024 and he’s missed a month of the season this year with a hamstring injury. So as dynamic as he is, as explosive as he is and a game changer as he is, there are some red flags with the medical. If you want the Giants to draft a playmaker to help Jackson Dart, hit that thumbs up icon. I don’t mind building an explosive offense to surround Jackson Dart. Uh, if you’re with me, hit that thumbs up icon. Let’s talk about some Ohio State linebackers. Arll Reese and Sunny Styles. I put out my first mock draft on the channel of the draft cycle yesterday. Go check that out. We got a little uh Buckeye happy on that one. But these two guys, as explosive and dynamic as they are, they’re a little bit different. Arll Reese is more of your hand in the dirt edge type of linebacker. gives me some Abdul Carter vibes where he can line up on the edge, he can line up in the A gap if you need him in a pinch, he can be that offball linebacker, he excels and being in a quarterback spy role as well. Reese, he’s a damn good player and he’s had a great season in the Big 10 this year. Buger said without knowing the scheme or coordinator, it could be tough to project defensive players to the Giants right now. But Reese is a hybrid linebacker who can do whatever you want in the front seven. his play with he plays with violence and his closing burst is incredible. I mean, you just turn on the tape and you watch Ohio State and whether it be Downs, whether it be Reese or whether it be Sunny Styles, these guys move just a little bit faster than everybody else. And this Giants defense, in my opinion, this year lacked some top end speed. So, if Ree was there when the Giants are on the clock, I wouldn’t mind it. I think it would be a good pick. Again, it would just be another piece you could use on defense, but again, it would take the right defensive coordinator. Sunonny Styles is more of your traditional and prototypical offball linebacker. Sideline to sideline tackling machine. He could play downhill. He was a safety when he first came into college. So, he is an athletic freak. He there reportedly he grew three in the spring this past year. Now, he’s up to 6’5, 240 lbs. Looks like he was built in a lab. When’s the last time the Giants had an impact player at that inside linebacker spot? At a verified 6’4 and 240 lbs with 33 plus inch arms, Styles looks like a defensive end, but he runs like a safety. His backfield vision and takeon skills have improved with each game over his two seasons as a starter, as a Buckeye, says Dane Bugler. You could pair their stats side to side, and you could kind of see the different type of player or different responsibilities that they have. Reese, you’re going to tell him to get after the quarterback. You’re going to tell him to put his hand in the dirt, mix up the offensive lineman, and go cause havoc. Whereas Sunny Styles, you can kind of play him as that nickel linebacker, he also can be your down in, down out, inside linebacker. That’s what he projects as. But this is a guy that can move backwards as well as he does move forward. He has that defensive back background to complement his game as well. Uh I I would love Sunny Styles on this team. I view him as more of a mid to late first round pick. So in a trade down scenario, it could make a lot of sense. And the Giants are desperate at the linebacker spot. They are going to cut Bobby O’ Carrick K this off season to save almost $10 million. Micah McFaten is a free agent. What are they going to do with him? Coming off a major foot injury. You pretty much got to start at 0 at that inside linebacker spot. and adding a guy like Styles to the to the fold at that spot, maybe signing a Leo Chanel in the offseason and getting two guys that can go sideline to sideline and bring speed to your defense. Uh that’s a quick way to help try to fix that. Overall, if the Giants are going to take one of these athletic chess pieces on defense, they need to find a defensive coordinator who can get creative with the personnel, especially if they add someone like an Arll Reese or a Bane or somebody like that. you have too many good players. You would think at at the line of scrimmage that you need someone that can maximize those players and put them in positions to be successful. How many times have we talked about why are the Giants best players not on the field together? They don’t compleiment each other. You need somebody to be able to come in and do that. Long way to go until April, but I’m putting you on the clock right now and you got 10 seconds. Who should the Giants draft in round one? 1. Drafting WR's with injury problems is asking for trouble. Giants are cursed with the injury bug. We need to draft a voodoo witch. Defense wins championships.

  2. Marshall there is insanity out there right now Cowberd calling for us to trade Dart? Giants being named 5th best coaching job. This is nuts!!!! Help calm my anxiety and tell me Dart is our QB, please.
