REACTION: Chargers ELIMINATE Chiefs!! | The Director on Bleacher Report
The following is brought to you by Bleacher Report. If you guys want to check out my live postgame reaction show, make sure to have the Bleacher Report app downloaded and ready to fire up right after the game. You’ll find me in the Chargers section. Bolt up. Yo, what a bolt, fam. It’s the director. CHARGERS FANS AROUND THE WORLD, CAN I GET A BOLT UP, PLEASE? What a huge and significant game for the Chargers taking down the Kansas City Chiefs. I got to ask everybody in the chat. I got to ask Chargers fans around the world one big huge question, BABY. WHO’S GOT IT BETTER THAN US? NOBODY. The Chargers. Take down the Chiefs. Improve their odds to make the postseason to almost guaranteed while also putting down the Chiefs and pretty much eliminating them from the postseason. And I think they have a less than 5% chance now. Man, what a time to be alive. The Bolts at 10 and four, the Chiefs at 6 and eight, and the Dynasty is now officially over. It feels like this game was such a significant game because of that in particular. The Chargers swept the Raiders. Okay, let’s not get too excited. Then we follow it up with sweeping the Chiefs. The Chiefs. the first time we’ve done this in very many years. Matter of fact, the last time we accomplished that was with the man I have up on the screen right now, Philip Rivers, who’s currently suited up for the Indianapolis Colts. It’s been over a decade since the Chiefs missed the postseason. The era of Kansas City is over. Welcome the era of the Chargers and yeah, the Broncos. We’ll see if we can make it through them and make a difference in our chances of taking the division, which right now are very much so alive. But what an experience this has been for Chargers fans. Man, it has been an awesome Jim Harbaugh year despite all the setbacks. Rashawn Slater gone before the season even started. Offensive line poo poo. Joe Alt gone. Omari and Hampton gone for a majority of the season. Offense really not what we had envisioned. But despite all of that, this team just hit double-digit wins. I think we’re tracking better than we did last year. And last year, we had a heck of an easier schedule to look forward to. This year, it has been much steeper to find a win in the league. And despite all of that, the Chargers are sitting at 10 and four. I am so stoked for the Chargers now, for the Chargers tomorrow, the Chargers future under Jim Harbaugh. What a symbolic game this was on very many different levels, dude. Congratulations to the Chargers. They are a 10 and4 team. One of the top on top of the division. Now, let’s go. Let’s take a closer look at this game, man. And what made it a special and memorable one for Chargers fans? Justin Herbert, despite not going crazy on the scoreboard, had himself a pretty decent day. 210 yards. Yes, the interception, four sacks, also pretty rough. Still finds himself on the right side of the QB rating here, man. 84. Not bad with the broken hands. The Chargers definitely still a threat as long as he is on the field, even with the injury. He survived just long enough on certain drives to keep us relevant on offense. Sure, there have been some questionable decisions made by number 10. Sure, he hasn’t looked like himself completely since a couple of injuries ago. specifically. Yeah, this hand one’s going to cause some problems, but they have the pieces around him to support him. And that’s what this game kind of taught me this week. You know, there was an aspect to this game that I felt was really important coming into this one. If you guys watch my content here on Bleacher Report or on YouTube, I was really driving in the fact that if the Chargers are going to take down the Chiefs, who can pop off at any minute, they need to focus in on two aspects. On offense, it’s the run game. You got to put up 100 yards, maybe a touchdown. You got to make yourself relevant there, but it was the defense that was mainly going to win this one. And both of those aspects are going to take pressure off of your quarterback who really needs the help right now. And that’s exactly what it felt like happened in this game. Dustin Herbert, yeah, I still played Superman a lot of the time. Almost 20 completions is pretty remarkable considering the circumstances. still got the touchdown, you know, survived through the four sacks. But Omar and Hampton, welcome back, dude. 15 carries for 61 yards over four a carry versus this defense in particular, mind you. The Chiefs defense is one of the best in the league versus the run. I think they average less than 100 yards per game. This is going to add to that stat for him. But Omarian Hampton kept them very relevant on the ground. The Chiefs couldn’t just straight up play, you know, man coverage the whole time pass defense. They had to account for Amari and Hampton, which by the way, what a first half that was for the Chiefs defense. That was scary. Justin Herbert getting blitzed every single down. Man coverage was sticky. The protection obviously wasn’t there. Good on the Chargers for finding a way to adjust and help themselves survive those four quarters. But before we close out the run game, dude, I got to remind you this run game of the Chargers is going to become a very special thing to watch over the next few seasons. And it’s going to be a big reason why they win or lose, you know, the next three games. It also proves that you don’t need to go for 203 touchdowns. You can keep yourself relevant, you know, with 15 carries of Amari and Hampton. Hampton looked fantastic in almost every carry this week, too. Yeah, his average was kind of suffering before that big long of 26 yards, but he looked as physical as I remember him. He looked as as tough as I remember him. He went airborne one time. Showed has his athleticism, his speed, his power. I’m a massive Omar and Hampton fan. And the more work he gets, the more I think he’ll prove to everybody that this was the right call for the Chargers in the first round. He’s going to become a big threat in the league to take over as one of the top running backs in football. Very excited for him. Videll has become a very good one-two punch for the Chargers, too. I think this is closer to what they envisioned with them and Naji Harris than anything we’ve seen so far this year. Great to see that working in favor of the Chargers. Receivers, man. There was one play in particular, uh, the touchdown for the Chargers, right? the lone receiving touchdown that had my jaw on the floor. And it’s because that drive was sustained by the rookies of the Chargers 2025 class starting with a 40yard return by Keandre Lambert Smith. I should say he got he returned it all the way to the 40 putting the Chargers in excellent field position in what was going to be a very tight drive. They only had what, like 50 or something seconds or was it even 30 something seconds? I don’t remember. It was under a minute of football left to play in the first half. I thought the Chargers may run it and go into the locker room. And at this point, I think the Chiefs were up 13-3. But Candre Lambert Smith gives us just good enough field goal or I should say just good enough uh return position that we decide to let’s go for it. Let’s see if we can put some points up. And I was I was thinking on the top of my head I was like, okay, let’s go for a field goal. We only like 20 yards away all of a sudden. Let’s make it happen. And a huge catch, 37yder from Trey Harris, who was what, tied for second on the team in targets this week. He He puts the Chargers in field goal position single-handedly. And holy crap, what a catch that was. the physicality, fighting for the football, maintaining control on the sideline, everything that we remember hyping up about Trey Harris on display in that one play. Fantastic. A lot of people were wondering if we were going to trade him away. Some people, a lot of Giants fans were very excited about the thought of maybe pairing him up with Jackson Dart again. We all thought that was ridiculous. Eventually, he’s going to become a big part of this offense. And wow, did that play give us a nice sneak peek of that. Remember, you got the rookie play of the return giving the Chargers the starting field position at the 40. And then you have this huge 37 yd reception by Trey Harris. You cap it off with a big touchdown to Keandre Lambert Smith, which again, the Chiefs weren’t giving us much this week. They got a solid passing defense. They got a solid defense all around. But KLS finds himself open and caps off that rookie wide receiver drive to give us our lone touchdown and really put us in position to win this game. Because how different do you think this game is if the Chargers go into the locker room down let’s say 6 to13 it was a difference of three points in the end to Keandre Lambert Smith the rookie receivers that drive may have won it for us keep that in mind Gadston the other rookie this time at the tight end position still our receiver tied for second in targets puts up 61 yards. He’s been a bit quiet. I’m not going to lie. The last few weeks he’s been a bit quiet out there. Well, he’s back. He has a big day. 61 yardds on four receptions, some clutch plays for first downs. It feels like some point in the second half, Justin Herbert and and Gadston just turned on a switch and you started seeing third downs converted. You started seeing drives sustained. I think one of the most impressive drives of the day for me were the Chargers fresh off that Deon Henley interception starting at what like inside the five around the 2yd line. Herbert and Gadston kept that drive relevant in the game. The first play was a play action from Justin Herbert to Gadston for like 15 yards. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I couldn’t believe that we threw the football and I couldn’t believe that Gadston came down with it. Later, Gazin will come up with a couple of first downs, and man, has he really reemerged as that threat in those situations. He’s been awesome. Cheroni taking a bit of a backseat. Keenan Allen had a couple of big plays, but the rookies really were one of the biggest reasons why the Chargers won this football game today. Hats off to Ronda Gadston. Hats off to Trey Harris. Hat hats off to Kandre Lambert in the touchdown. Hats off to Omari and Hampton in the 61 yards. Think about that, man. Just think about that. How crazy is that? Our guy Joe Hortiz has been cooking. And that’s just the offensive side of the football. Let’s go on down to the defense. Always hats off real quick, too. To our guy Cam Dicker, three of three along a 49. Mr. Automatic over here again. The return by Kandre Lambert. He’s looking like he’s found a nice role in the team. But now, let’s take our hats off for the defense, who in my mind is the reason the Chargers won this football game. Let’s go, Bolts. This is as good a football a defense I’ve seen on a Chargers football team in a long time. How tough is this team to score on? Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs only put up 13. How tough is this team to push the ball downfield on? Big plays don’t exist. recently. How much harder has this team been to run on? That’s really impressive. They were really, really bad for a majority of years, even in this season, and they’ve sort of turned it around. You have stars all over this roster on defense. Derwin James is going to get a lot of credit for this one, as he should. the game-sealing interception at the end. Couple of passes defended, led the team with 10 tackles. You threw down for Derwin James today. You were probably looking pretty good. Matter of fact, every time I saw Travis Kelce with another reception, I was like, why are we not putting three on 87? That was one of the conditions I had for the Chargers to take down the Chiefs was making sure we put a cap on Travis Kelce. And the answer to that was Derwin James. And it was so poetic that the very last play of the game was a Derwin James interception while on man coverage versus Travis Kelce. I do a lot of of uh I do all I should say of my own graphics and stuff for my YouTube and all that. And I knew for whatever reason I was like the matchup I want to feature this week is James and Kelsey. That feels like the big one. And it feels like this was the game. It was it was the Kelsey versus Derwin James game and Derwin came out on top. Fantastic. Denzel Perryman laying the boomstick, man. Ooh, some big hits this game. Defense was out there, man. THEY WANTED IT. THEY WANTED IT. Perryman was great. Oay with the two sacks. He also had a pretty big tackle for loss on a on a run play. I remember he was awesome. Marcus Williams was out there too, guys. You I I don’t know. Maybe I didn’t recognize the number. Marcus Williams, formerly of the Ravens. You remember? He was a big star. And the the Saints, he had a decent game. Chargers are so good at picking out these, you know, safeties that, you know, maybe were past their prime and making him relevant again. Which, by the way, huge shout out to Tony Jefferson. I’m in no position to say officially if it was unnecessary roughness, if he if he deserved to get ejected. All I can say is from my opinion as a fan of the NFL, not even just a fan of the Charge, but a fan of the NFL, did not seem like that was warranted. And Jefferson was playing a heck of a football game this week. Extremely tough, extremely physical, extremely driven was Tony Jefferson this week. Big hits. I think he had one on Rashi Rice. He had another one. Was it on Xavier Worthy? Tony Jefferson’s not messing around, man. He had a huge play last week to help end the to help uh put away the game. He’s looking great this week, too. Kind of crazy again. These safeties that have been past their prime, having a huge, huge impact on the Chargers defense. Deshawn Hand had a pretty good week. Henley with the interception. Dude, I went crazy on that play. That was awesome. Henley had a great day. Tulie, another pair of sacks this week. He’s up to 12 on the season, guys. Tulie with two on the season. Oay with two on the season. I think you’re going to see this pairing a lot next year. I’m hoping Khalil Mack has another season in him, but if not, Tulie and Ooway is not a bad, you know, position to fall on if you got to shake things up next year at edge. Oay joined us during the Dolphins game, right? Did not log a sack so far this season for the Ravens. Uh he’s up to I think like five now, maybe six, I don’t remember. He’s looking fantastic. And he hasn’t played as many games this season as the other Chargers. This is looking like a huge steal for the Bolts in terms of trade. And I’m not even going to say steal. I feel like there’s a lot of Ravens fans that are very happy with Alohi Gilman who’s a great player. I think he had a pick six today. I think my chat was telling me he had a pick six. But either way, this worked out great for both teams. Then Tardis really needed another edge rusher. OA is performing great. And you got Alohi Gilman who’s doing things that the Ravens needed at safety as well. Pairing him up with Kyle Hamilton. Hard to be mad at that. Really hard to see even trades like that too in the league. You don’t see him as often. Khil Mack looked good. Tier Tart did his job. Cam Hart had a couple of big plays. I’m watching Philip Rivers complete a pass to to Pitman, which is insane right now. Congratulations to this defense, man, that really has turned a corner. They are one of the best defenses in football. They’re one of the hardest to pass on in football. The Chargers offense has just needed to survive long enough to keep them relevant. Crazy season for the Chargers, dude. Unbelievable. And what a season. One more time before we close this video, I’m going to remind you guys the impact of this game on the AFC West, on the postseason. The Chargers with a win on this game increased their postseason appearance odds to around 95%. That is significant. We all know that’s significant. The Chargers with this win position themselves to maybe put themselves in the conversation to take the division. Depends a lot on what happens today versus the Packers and the Broncos. That’s huge. But the cherry on top and maybe one of the most significant is the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs era is over and the Chargers were the ones to put the final nail in the coffin. Nick Wright’s got to be going nuts right now. The Chargers were the team to put down and extinguish the Chiefs dynasty. This game would eliminate the Chiefs pretty much entirely from the postseason. They have like a less than 5% chance to make the postseason now. It was the Chargers that buried them. We’ve swept the Chiefs for the first time in forever. The Chiefs will miss the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. The dynasty is over. Watch out for your Los Angeles Chargers who look refreshed in a lot of different ways on defense. They look bolted up in ways that we couldn’t have predicted on offense despite missing both their starting tackles. The offensive line looking terrible, Justin Herbert being injured to hell and back. This has been such a crazy season to experience. And now they’re looking at a 10 and4 year with a shot at hopefully winning a postseason game and maybe even taking the division. That would be awesome. Excellent experience this season for the Chargers and their fans. If you’re able to overlook a lot of the unfortunate injuries because being 10 and four despite all that is very impressive in a season where our schedule’s a lot harder. There’s injuries everywhere. Just imagine where this team is going with a h 100 plus million dollars in cap space next year with the way Joe Hortiz has been drafting. The future is bright. That’s all I’m going to say. Chargers fans relish in the moment. The Chiefs dynasty is over. The Chargers likely going to the postseason. Very likely. I’m going to say it’s almost guaranteed going into the postseason. Everybody watch real tightly this new game versus the uh the Broncos and the and the Packers. Let’s hope and pray the Packers can pull one out and put the Chargers back on the heels of the Broncos to possibly take the West. It’s a fun one out here, man. And on top of that all, after this broadcast, I’m going to go out there and watch some more of this Philip Rivers uh uh quarterbacking the Indianapolis Colts game and put myself back in the days where I was cheering him on in high school. Isn’t that crazy? I can’t believe it, dude. Well, guys, thank you so much for joining me. This has been the director. Go out there and celebrate, Chargers fans. It’s a big day for the Chargers. A big day for the division. It’s a big day for the Bolt fam. We’ll catch you guys next time. If you like what you saw here, hit us up with a follow here on Bleacher Report. We’ll see you again next week. As always, bolt up and stay frosty. Let’s go Chargers. Let’s go. The Chiefs dynasty is over.

Let’s eliminate the Cowboys next
Swept their dynasty away like a hurricane 😂😂😂😂😂
Can we get more screens & quicker passing concepts. I swear Greg Roman is so basic with his schemes & play calling .
NY did Tony dirty & in my opinion especially for KC because it's not just them getting calls by the refs it's Rogers & his corrupt staff trying to fix games for them & this proved it. I have seen worse hits & the player never get ejected. Not only that this is the first time I know of that NY & Rogers staff over rule the refs on ejecting a player that's a call made on the field by the refs & the refs called it right that it was just a penalty. What else is Rogers & NY doing to fix games is my big question because they're definitely doing it.
Everyone saw the Tony play he was leading with his shoulder the dumb Wr for the Chiefs made the choice to try & just run through Tony that's his bad. Then he goes extra after the play if by the rules anyone should have been ejected from the game it should have been him. It is what it is this why I been saying for years Rogers should never have been commissioner he has had changed the NFL into a big ass ad & a joke compared to what it used to be.
With all the new Roger making deals with all different platforms to put money in his pocket what the betting line on Tony was because I think he was about to break the bank in this game & NY got a call from someone like we can't cover this so cover us & we will give you a kick back.
Hampton, Harris, Gadsen and now KLS. Awesome draft class!😀
I'm honestly seriously surprised that Rogers or his staff in NY haven't even put out a statement why NY ejected him. It's like they were thinking because Mahomes was still in the game let's just eject this dude & he still has a shot to win the game. Then Mahomes gets hurt & their entire talking heads all their employees go into cover up mode. It's pathetic.
BOLT UP ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
BOLT UP ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
1:06 they did eliminate them! As soon as they lost. Bolt up baby!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
bolt the f UP
beating the champs last wk then beat the reigning champs this wk. Both were in the Superbowl last year
16:27 Kyle Van Noy had the pick and then handed it off to Alohi to run in for the TD.. pretty awesome play
Do any of these playoff teams have really good defensive ends? Or crazy defensive blitz? This is our biggest weakness
If Herbert had time in the backfield like Brady did he would be an accurate sniper
Enjoy the wins while we can. Only one team wins it all. The future is bright.
The ONLY questionable thing all game was the 3rd & Long in which we hit Keenan on a 8-9 yard post and he literally threw it cross field to Hampton 😭 wtf was that 😂
Bolt up ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Who’s got it better than us!?!?!?
Minter has had his boys playing really good since the bye week!! He's our DC, and I'm happy to be here to see it!!!
