After last night, I’m wondering if hiring Lambert to be a middle man between coaches and players was the glue that held the players together with the coaching staff.
Pretty on the nose there. Now it’s a matter of if brad will act/ if Keith pelly will let him

Seems to be a pattern with this guy. If a coach can’t take accountability, then how can you expect the players to be accountable. He can’t be here much longer.

If not for the logo in the back, this could be a sound bite from a lot of games this year
My honest thoughts
If they remove Craig and Gru at some point this season, and there’s a turnaround, let them (the players) have this last year quietly without them knowing, unless they pull something good out of their ass which I don’t think they will but you never know.
If there’s no turnaround, gotta move some guys for picks or something. It would be more admirable for them to admit it’s not working and it’s a **bad situation and it’s been bad for a while.** Don’t touch Knies or the young guys, but people have to be moved.

Last night was completely inexcusable. I don’t fucking care if he does not like the coach. Suck it up and fucking play.
The annoying thing is hes not wrong when he says this stuff about the Leafs, and I actually appreciate him saying it cause its painfully obvious.
However, he’s also just not a good fit for this team. Some of the blame rests with him. We dont have the players for his systems.
The reality is if we are interested in salvaging this season it won’t be through some massive trade- it’ll be from shaking up the coaching staff and hoping that the new coach novelty will light a bit of a fire here, and maybe try out some systems that play to the team’s talents.
Then go for some moves in the offseasom, though I dont really want Tre to be making them.

This team can’t play his hockey.. no different then us trying to play Babcock hockey
It is wrong to say the players are unable to play Berube’s system. There is no system.
The Leafs should have cut ties with Rielly/Matthews/Nylander a long time ago…..
Team is tuning him out…..if I am a betting man he will be let go before or just after Xmas break

I mean any time a coach in any sport comes out and says they literally dont know how to get the players to care or buy in, its ova. thats not berube specific.

What he’s saying could still be true. Sorry but the team could have the best coach in the world. If they don’t listen or wake up for the games, there’s nothing the coach can do. Is it the coach making the players not skate to loose pucks? Is the coach forcing the power play to be stationary? Is he forcing them to be scared of getting hit? I can understand how some coaches make small adjustments with teams, but in the end it’s on the players to perform. Leafs have been dumping pucks in for 3 coaches now. They’ve been flipping pucks out their zone for 3 coaches. They’ve been a one and done shot team for 3 coaches now.
I don’t even like berube as a coach but eventually it needs to be placed on the room to get themselves into games and ready to go. Any coach can only do so much. It’s like being in the military. Soldiers learn to stand there when they get screamed at for shit. Doesn’t faze them.
I’m curious, does anyone have the underlying stats from when he coached other teams? I just can’t help but wonder if he’s always relied on good goaltending, shot blocking and luck. I just don’t like his system at all. It takes the puck away from the skilled players.
