On Dec. 4, Blue & Gold first reported that Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb’s Teddy Jarrard was “strongly considering” a reclassification from the 2027 to 2026 class, and it’s now confirmed that he will do so.
Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett broke the news on Friday afternoon, and Blue & Gold has confirmed it.
The traditional signing day is on Feb. 4, which is the earliest Jarrard could officially ink with the Irish. He has until April 15, 2026, to sign. Regardless of the date he signs a letter of intent, Jarrard will enroll at Notre Dame in June.
He’ll join Notre Dame’s 2026 class, which currently ranks No. 2 according to the Rivals Industry Team Ranking, and be the second quarterback in the class along with Lake Mary (Fla.) High’s Noah Grubbs.
“With Teddy in general he’s ready,” Teddy’s father, Jerry, recently told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong about the potential of a reclassification. “When I say he’s ready, he’s ready from a high school kid perspective.
“Not many places have a coach like Coach Freeman. That stands out from the rest. You want to go to a place with a great head coach, a great coaching staff and they’ve been great to me.”
Jarrard committed to the Irish on June 24, just weeks after Notre Dame offered him a scholarship. He picked Marcus Freeman’s program over Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State.
“I chose Notre Dame because of the culture there,” Jarrard told Rivals’ Chad Simmons. “Coach Freeman has built a great program there over the years, and it’s something special that I want to be a part of. Also, Coach Gino [Guidugli] has been great to me. He develops quarterbacks in a great way.”
He currently ranks as the No. 125 overall prospect and No. 11 quarterback in America according to the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
According to Rivals’ own rankings, he’s the No. 79 player and No. 5 signal-caller nationally, but with his move to the 2026 class, Jarrard will receive a new ranking.
Jarrard played his first two high school seasons at North Cobb Christian, a Georgia Class 2A school, but transferred to North Cobb, a class 6A program, in the offseason.
In 12 contests as a junior, Jarrard connected on 174 of 268 passes for 2,292 yards and 18 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. North Cobb fell in the second round of the Georgia 6A playoffs.
During his sophomore season in 2024, Jarrard threw for 2,783 yards and 34 touchdowns with a 72 percent completion percentage. He was named the Georgia High School Association Region 7-AA offensive player of the year and to the 2024 All-Cobb County first-team offense.
He had a strong freshman campaign, completing 153 of 260 passes for 2,065 yards with 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Recruit Georgia listed him as a 2023 Class 2A All-State honorable mention.
“From the food he puts into his body, to the way he sleeps at night to the way he prepares for each day, Teddy is an elite high school quarterback with a professional mindset,” North Cobb head coach Shane Queen told Simmons. “I have never seen anything like it. Teddy is different and there just are not guys like him. He is on a different level, not only with his ability, but his preparation.”
Jarrard’s younger brother, Gunner, is a class of 2029 tight end prospect with an early offer from UNLV and has potential in baseball as well.
His uncle, Cory Phillips, played at Georgia from 1999 to 2002.
