I mean he gets paid the big bucks now, so I would say underrated is the wrong word to describe him. He’s certainly not overpaid right now.
He’s a beast. We are lucky to have him on the team. If he is confident he can break the game and he is still so young! If we find us a Toews-like partner for Jackson he is gonna be elite. Gudas and Helleson are no first pair players.
He’s been mid at best all season with an occasional flash of good. He has not been worth $9m a year for 8 years this season so far. Cale Makar is making $9m this year for some reference, though he is on the last year of his contract.
Like a few others on this team, he got his contract and regressed.

Eh I think he’s just a good defenseman on a small market team so that naturally makes him a bit underrated. Like how werenski is arguably the best defenseman in the league (or just barely second to makar) but he doesn’t get as much praise or attention as a bunch of other defensemen simply because he’s on Columbus.
if lacombe is overrated at 8m I can’t wait to hear yalls takes on McT getting 7m getting 12minutes a game. shouldn’t even be talking about money on his team cuz it’s unlimited cap space for us like every year
