Now I know my geography is shit but it's not really moving is it!!!
Ballpark villages are flawed. The โvillageโ already exists in your host city. Do your part to invest/improve that instead of building an artificial shopping center around a stadium. What happened to civics?
I wouldn't believe anything a politician says.
WILL MISSOURI ACTUALLY LOSE BOTH TEAMS?

The two teams are playing chicken. The Royals want the chiefs to move to Kansas so they can tear down arrowhead and build a ballpark village and a new stadium. The Chiefs want the Royals to move so they can renovate Arrowhead and put a stadium village around it. Which ever team blinks first and moves to Kansas the other will stay put.
These billionaire owners would move the teams 2 ANTARCTICA if taxpayers founded it #NoLuvNoLoyalty
Does Missouri taxpayers even care? They've lost the Hawks, Cardinals, Rams, and now Chiefs and Royals, and since 99% of their fans never set foot in the stadium no referendums have been pro spending tax dollars on playpens for billionaires. The Chiefs and Royals will still be on TV in Kansas City Mo. Let Kansas taxpayers, who have less sources of tax revenue cover billions of dollars in bonds, which habitually are not paid off before teams demand hundreds of milllions in upgrades to the stadiums.Being from Cincinnati / Pittsburgh, both of which built stadiums for their footballand baseball teams for about $30 million in the 70s, saw having to build new $25o million stadiums for each team ($500 million) when it was exposed that the bonds for 3 Rivers and Riverfront stadiums were not yet paid off. The NFL announced they expected a $30 BILLION profit for the league this season, it seems that the league could easily take $2 to 3 BILLION of that profit annually and build a new stadium for another team(s) at their specs and all with similar turf, amenities, and then they can keep all the profits, but pay for all the maintanence and upgrades. As now there are 28 such stadiums, and it would be easy for the league to combine the Commanders and Ravens stadium, Tampa and Jacksonville in Orlando, Chicago and Green Bay in Milwaukee, Cleveland and Pittsburgh in Warren/Canton, the NFL is an all day social event so many fans fly in overnight and tailgate before and after the games so being an hour away is not a major inconvenience.
Sherman is in love with that ballpark village idea, but also if builds more hotels/restaurants/bars next to stadium there is also huge convention center right there that will bring in even more money not in baseball months.
Took them decades, but governments have started to figure out building new stadiums are not profitable.
Such stupidity, locals will pay far more because Billionaire owners can't build the new stadium themselves. Flyover Country just can't get away from Corporate Welfare.
I've never even been to Kansas City and I'd miss Kauffman Stadium. It really does look like a charming stadium. But then again, so did Oakland Coliseum, at least from my never-been-there fan's perspective. And we've all heard how much of a dump it was. I don't think I've heard the same of Kauffman however.
They should fund their own stadiums instead of leeching off public funds
I've lived within earshot of The Truman Sports Complex for 55 years. In no way have they improved my quality of life. Let Kansans pay for billionaires. Buh Bye !
If both leaves to Kansas. How much taxes money etc. would Missouri lose. Alis there any public information what both teams gives to they county and state.
First of all, do not believe a thing that Ty Masterson says. After all, this clown is singlehandedly responsible for Kansas not legalizing even MEDICAL marijuana.
Secondly, the only Kansas site being talked about with the Royals IS NOT IDEAL FOR A BALLPARK!!!! Residents in the area DON'T WANT IT!!!! (And that land purchase? It's just the damn mortgage.)
The Royals need to be Downtown or close to it. So, Washington Square Park or North Kansas City.
Baseball belongs Downtown. Period.
Both teams should go to Kansas.
The current sports complex has long seen it's time completely isolated from any urban center. If done right relocation can spur redevelopment in either Kansas City, but just how will it be financed.
It is now clear! St. Louis is the premier city in Missouri!! KC, THE PRETENER, HAS NO LEG TO STAND ON!!!!!!!
Bye,bye billionaire. Pay for your stadium or piss off. The arrogance and entitlement is disgusting. Screw them . They are organized crime.
I don't like this as a Kansas tax payer. These stars bonds are statewide so every tax payer in the state will be on the hook. It may be too late.
If both teams I be surprised. But where in Kansas would they build the stadiums and would government be evolved. It would make more sense to build around the racetrack where there is already infrastructure for sporting events in Kansas City, Kansas. But knowing nfl/mlb teams they would want to do stuff that makes no sense like build one stadium in southern Kansas city and the other in northern Kansas city instead of having a sports complex with all sports for the fans.
You know… Indiana's not too far away ๐คฃ
Kansas City, Kansas is a 16-minute drive from Arrowhead Stadium. NOT A BIG DEAL TO ANYONE OUTSIDE THE MISSOURI TAX SYSTEM. It's like when the Mets moved to Shea Stadium from the Polo Grounds. IOW a 50 cents nothingburger.
I say GO FOR IT, CHIEFS AND ROYALS. Kansas will give small extra bennies in a town with MUCH LESS TRAFFIC AND TWO NEW AND IMPROVED PARKS. PLUS, Missouri was Confederate and Kansas was Union. So there's that big improvement too.
I used to live out by the legends/speedway area brodie and what you can't see from that aerial shot is there is still a lot of land and area available in the areas surrounding that core area and I would imagine they would start constructing on some of that available lands. By available I just mean that it's there, not necessarily that the chiefs or royals own rights to that area yet.
I think I'm the Royals…I want to see how this all plays out before I have an opinion on it besides "taxpayer money shouldn't be used to fund stadiums, even in the form of a STAR bond issue".
If the Chiefs move, would it allow opportunity for the Royals to develop the entire Truman Sports Complex in a way spoken here a few months ago about Atlanta Braves and what the Rays are desiring?
I feel like the Royals are in really good shape because they will either move to Kansas and get the star bonds and build on the 207 acres, or they will stay in Missouri and build elsewhere but still reap profits from either selling the Sprint grounds or developing some non-sports retail/office space on that property and reap the profits from renters. I feel like that is why they bought the mortgage in the first place to have those options.
Considering what Royals tickets costs, people in MO, should be a tad ticked using tax payer's money to build them a brand new stadium. Save the state and city some money and tell them to go to Kansas.
Honestly, the Arrowhead/Royals Stadium site is probably worth more (taxwise) being redeveloped as a warehouse/distribution hub than its current use. It's not only at the junction of I-70 and I-435 with access to both interstates already built to handle heavy traffic, but the scars of the abandoned Rock Island Line rail track runs along the southwest side of the site and could easily be reconnected to the lines running through the Blue Valley. The site also has all the utility infrastructure needed to develop as a distribution hub. There will probably be competitive bids for the site. As a retired former Missouri resident, I say let Kansas pay for the new stadiums.
