  3. Wow, he must not have had any major offers from other teams, which is also a red flag for his contract issues. The power is real, but the strikeouts could be the main reason no one else wanted him.

  5. Hell yeah now we don’t have to rely on Miguel freaking Vargas. Can’t be worse than that freaking guy. Don’t understand Sean’s hatred of Sosa and giving Miguel Vargas a pass. Sosa is at least a decent hitter why would you dfa a decent hitter? Vargas can’t hit and he is a lousy defensive player

  13. I feel as though the media projections on what he could have gotten distorts the fact that he is still receiving $17 million from the jump. The state of the game is such that if Murakami can hit 30 HRs, many teams will accept 200 Ks, just look at James Wood and Riley Greene. If he can do that, he puts the White Sox rebuild on the clock as he will probably make up the money and years on his second contract. Given the long-term payroll, him succeeding and getting paid shouldn't be an issue, but given how the past years have gone it is a good sign that they aren't looking at the Peter Pan rebuild plan. If he doesn't offer the HRs to go with the swing and miss, the hopes of the fan base will still be tied to same young guys they had yesterday as well as next summer's top pick. It will be a frustrating miss, especially when you watch the day-in-day-out strikeouts, but isn't the same thing as giving big extensions to the previous core prior to them doing anything and having all their chips in on them becoming great players.

  15. Give him a 3-4 month adjustment period and just let him settle in. If his mental state stays stable, his strengths will definitely start to outweigh the weaknesses. I think White Sox is a great team and have incredible fans!

  16. By the way there were at least 5 teams involved trying to get this Japanese star all the way till the end it wasn’t just the White Sox who wanted to sign him. I love this Signing. Go Sox. Hope he stays for a long time.

    Even if he doesn't pan out as much as we hope, it shows all the rookies that we're gonna invest $$$ if we can show we can win.
    This should be a positive all the way around.

  22. Good signing! 100-loss 3 yrs in a row, but this is the team to play for MURAKAMI-SAMA! He signed with Yakult Swallows when the team was struggling and brought the team to a Championship in 2022. Do the same thing in MLB, MUNE!

  25. This is huge even if he doesn’t perform. Gets the team access to the asia-oceania market again and if hes does perform you extend a Qualifying offer for 2028. If he doesn’t accept you get a draft pick
