I’m pretty okay with it personally, but I really hope he stops here at this point. I think we’ve moved enough of our farm system for now. I’d like to see them spend a bit of money to round out the lineup.
It seems like Chaim really likes to take the guys he likes with him. Did something similar when he was with us by acquiring ex Rays.
I think $28M is gonna have a really good year
always liked Blaze Jordan. Irrationally perhaps
So what’s the Cardinals’ endgame here? What’s their angle?
Should we expect a Nolan Arenado trade if Bregman doesn’t come back, where the Cardinals pay $12 million of the $27 million he is owed in 2026?
Fajardo and Clarke are the biggest losses for me, just due to their higher potential ceiling, but they’re far enough from the majors to not impact anything for at least a year. Fitts/Dobbins always felt like the most expendable of our back-end options. Sandoval/Crawford didn’t have enough trade value, Early/Tolle had too much value. In general, these are just clear cut win-now moves, and I like that.
Disappointing. I don’t think we have enough in our starting rotation. Crochet is the only number one we have and we do not have a true number 2 either. We have a bunch of jags, which you need to fill out your rotation, but they aren’t good enough to have a deep playoff push.
We still have a holes in our lineup. No power hitter. Anthony could be that, but it’s still an unknown and even if he is there is no one else to help him.
Jesus for a minute I thought the trade grew to more players.
Trading two serviceable starters for Sonny Gray and Contreras while we have money to spend should be a crime.
Like why not Jorge Polanco instead of Contreras?
The Red Sox have made two of the biggest moves so far this off season
I think it’s enough of the farm now…just spend money, my goodness. Any other moves come from dealing Durran I think. If not Bregman.
Getting a SP and RHH without giving up Tolle and Early is a really great start. But it will only remain great if they spend money and add the last bat (And I’ll give them credit for *adding* Bregman even though he really wouldn’t be added to last year’s roster) If they don’t add another bat *or* have to give up more of their prospect pitching depth to make it happen then I’m less happy about these deals.
Chaim Bloom trying to get his Sox minor league band back together
In a vacuum, this is a good deal for both sides. We fill two significant needs (even if you think Gray isn’t a #2) and it doesn’t cost us much in terms of prospects. St. Louis gets a jump on their rebuild and a few lottery tickets. If they hit on one, they’ll be thrilled.
