Jeff McNeil tradr

  1. Mets outfield roster is looking thin, I’m hoping this is hinting at Bellinger or Tucker

  2. 🐿️SZN is officially over 🥲, McNeil became one of my favorite Mets ever & going to miss him playing in Queens but this is the correct move to continue blowing up the core / locker room. Wonder who is next out the door

  3. Mets are sending $5.75 million and agreeing to pay Oakland’s buyout of $2 million if they let him walk so it frees up about $10 million. Wonder if they’re gonna allocate that to anybody.

  4. Shows his trade value was next to nothing. Mets had to get rid of him. Don’t care what the terms were

  5. Met fans are acting like this guy didn’t hold our team together at every position last year. I’ll miss Jeff.

  6. My head cannon is that McNeil won the batting title out of spite. Now, he’s going to return to 2019 form out of spite similar to Murph. I just hope he doesn’t join SNY.

  7. Not a bad move, but it seems like we keep hearing about players going out without that many coming IN. Still need a reliable outfielder, a top of the order starting pitcher, and ideally another bat. And yes I know it’s only December…

  8. Former Oakland As fan here, kind of wild I have to come to the Mets subreddit for info on this trade. FJF.

Our fanbase could not give two fucks anymore, and I’ve never seen an owner destroy a franchise so completely. Players don’t want to play there either.

There are no fans to talk to ab the trade with. Vegas fans don’t exist, there are no more than 2 Sacramento fans, and Oakland fans are actively praying on the team’s downfall.

Sorry for venting here, I just hate that I’m forced not to care. I hope you fleeced us.

    Fuck John fisher.

  9. I just went looking for the Athletic’s subreddit to see what they think of the trade and to see if they’re excited to get Jeff, but the r/OaklandAthletics sub is dead and the r/athletics sub is even more dead. The r/SacramentoAthletics sub is the least dead of the three and there are a grand total of 8 comments on the trade thread.

McNeil is going to be playing in an emptier stadium than during Covid.

  10. This Reddit is insufferable.

2 years of Jeff McNeil lambasting and now you’re all pretending you’re upset about this.

  11. Honestly, he needed to go. He clearly didn’t get along with Lindor from the jump and he had a bad attitude and poopy face whenever things didn’t go his way. It’s time to turn over a new leaf.

And yea it was cool he could play like 17 different positions but ultimately, it’s part of clearing up that logjam.

  12. On the one hand, I get it: after the embarassment of the second half of 2025, change was definitely needed and the Mets probably already got the most they could, performance-wise, out of this core…but it’s still kinda sad too see these guys leave the Mets after rooting for them for the past few years.

…and with this transaction, Stearns has given himself yet another hole to fill in terms of position players without addressing the single biggest reason for 2025’s failure. I’ll wait until the final 2026 roster is set before giving my personal verdict, but I’m not exactly the biggest fan of how things have unfolded so far.

  13. We got what we could get for him, there wasn’t exactly a line out the door with teams begging us to take their star prospects in exchange. We all knew he was getting off this team one way or another, and now we have a pitching prospect and an extra 10MM we can put towards a big bat. Fine move IMO

  14. It’s very likely to me that this is a total clubhouse overhaul for chemistry reasons at this point, right?
