Instead of learning we’ve fired Daboll early, who Dart has a great relationship and obviously knew how to develop him and play him to his strengths.
And now we have given him a coach who is not letting him play and just having him hand the ball off 90% of the game.
Then we will be wondering what’s happened to Dart next season, because he’s been kept on a leash and lost confidence.
I did feel like they were playing like a bunch of scared bitches.

I absolutely hate the what the media has done to Dart. I never had an issue with his play style; yeah, it’s dumb at times and he can’t sustain it. But it’s what *works for him*. He will develop and learn to play smarter, but the entire fucking league media dunking on him for playing stupid just has to not be great for him.

If you go back to the hard knocks clip where Kafka tried to motivate the team by saying fuck 20 times in a minute, you could see the entire roster is checked out.
One of the last guys trying to energize this team is the QB and the HC is trying to take the ball out of his hands.

I would have much rather had a game where Dart was forced to read the defenses, I don’t care if he throws 4 interceptions, he needs to learn, and what better time to do that than in a season that’s going nowhere? I get they don’t want to get him hurt, but how about you just not run qb draws up the middle? The whole point of this season is darts development, so taking the ball completely out of his hands is just stupid, Kafka has coached himself out of whatever slim chance he had at keeping the job
Dart looked like shit yesterday but I don’t necessarily agree that coaching him to keep him safe isn’t also developing him.
He’s got to develop as a pocket QB. We know he can play off script (and is honestly amazing at it). We need to get him to be amazing as a pocket QB too. And one way of doing that (and keeping him safe) is not letting him scramble in a dead season.

Brian Flores that good or is the Giants coaching that bad? Dart blows up Denver and Philly but can’t move against the Vikings at home after they just lost 3 of their studs from last week (2 on IR, 1 inactive)? Mind boggling

When the season is dead, why run the QB in a way that’s had him injured on and off since he started playing? I like a dynamic player, but how anyone thinks the current playing style of Dart or Cam are meant for long term success or displaying signs of leadership, they’re wrong. We need Dart on the field. We need Cam on the field. I know Cam’s injury wasn’t related to how he plays, but it’s only a matter of time before it is. And Dart needs to be a pocket QB. Not that I think he’s the next Josh Allen, but he can be if he wants to be. Scramble when you can, but play smart the rest of the time – go out of bounds, slide. Play like a leader, not like a kid pouting because he can’t get his way.
The fan narrative shift is crazy, this is exactly what you get after weeks of screaming that we need to protect Dart from himself, the season is lost, “we’re going to injure him”.
This is what everyone asked for. No risk, no anything and now we’re mad his development may suffer because we don’t want him to play his style of football.
It kind of feels like we need an offensive coach as our next HC, not a defensive guy. One of my crazy offszn takes is trading our first even if it’s first overall for KOC.

Surprised to see everybody in here saying it’s Kafka. He might be calling the plays but there is clearly something coming down from the FO/ownership saying they need to limit the usage of Dart.
Not running play action on the third play of the game told me all I needed to know for how that game was going to be coached.

For whatever reason – be it ego, loyalty to dabs etc. Kafka has decided not to coach to his full ability. Clearly ownership told him no designed runs, and he’s decided to make that into a flat, uninspired, insipid game plan that doesn’t help Dart develop.
But ownership is right. We aren’t going anywhere this season. Winning a third game at the expense of the long term health of Dart makes no sense whatsoever.
What does make sense? Developing dart under center in a league where you need that to succeed. Clearly Kafka doesn’t want to do that for whatever reason. And keeping dabs wouldn’t have helped that.
Let’s take a look at Drake Maye for a couple of reasons. Last year, the Pats decided to keep him in the pocket and under center as much as they could, even when they were losing. He is a mobile qb but college qbs these days are mostly running rpos, screens etc. Under shotgun and that doesn’t work in the nfl. The run game needs a qb under center. So the pats decided to do this, and now look. They also decided to limit the amount of designed runs but allow him to scramble this year. Look at his development.. Look at the success.
Dabs was risking Darts health week in and week out. He had to go.
Of course I feel for the ultra competitive Dart, but good coaching and leadership would sit him down and explain this.
I understand Dart’s frustration, and clearly Kafka won’t be our guy, but there is no purpose of risking injuries in the last couple games of a lost season. The Commanders aren’t even starting JD the rest of the year for the same reason.
Look- I want the best pick possible…
But I think the effort being put out from this staff is embarrassing…especially with a rookie QB…
These guys don’t need to try to lose games…they can absolutely prepare dart and put together a solid game plan and this team will lose it on their own…
