WELP, DREAM TEAM IS NO LONGER DREAMING AND THE HOUSE IS MOVING ACROSS STATE LINES… this is fine . 💀

  2. Interested to see the new stadium renderings, wonder when those will be finalized and released.

  3. This sub is a trash fire right now with the recent news so I’m going to make this one, long comment and then fuck off for a while because I know my opinion isn’t appreciated.

I really don’t think Clark Hunt is a bad owner. I think he truly cares about his father’s legacy and that’s why he worked so hard to fix this organization after 2012 by bringing in Andy Reid. And why he lets the people who know football make football decisions (though I hope he forces Reid to fire Nagy and Toub). People talk about the survey grades but almost all of the highest graded teams are the ones with brand new, domed stadiums. Hunt’s grades will rise significantly once this is built and the new facilities that he waited to renovate because he knew this was coming. In fact, I guarantee you almost every player is very excited about this announcement.

I love Arrowhead as much as you all, and I wish Arrowhead could have been picked up and dropped off in a better area. But it’s truly pathetic that a dynasty franchise is located next to a Taco Bell, two hotels, and one of the trashiest suburbs I have ever seen. Raytown is awful and I know that because I had to park in an ABANDONED DRIVE IN THEATER PARKING LOT for working security at Arrowhead last year. And walk through it at night twice to get back to my car. With the Royals guaranteed to leave for somewhere (I hope not Overland Park) Arrowhead would truly be the only thing left in the Truman Sports Complex area.

On top of that, Arrowhead will be nearly 60 years old when this lease ends and will eventually fall apart no matter what. Concrete doesn’t last forever even with renovations. Lambeau is not the same Lambeau: it’s a Ship of Theseus. Same for Soldier Field, which soon won’t exist.
Hunt could have kept Arrowhead alive for probably 30 more years at most, and then he’d be right back in this same situation. But because the Chiefs are a dynasty right now he is going to take the Kansas sweetheart deal while he can because there will never again be a 60% loan for a brand new stadium. By the way, Kansas was offering 70% and he cut that down by 10%. I don’t really care what your opinions are on billionaires having stadiums financed for them, if you had the opportunity to get a brand new house for 30% of the cost you would take it. Every time. That’s just human nature.

For Jackson County Residents: you could have prevented this by voting Yes on the sales tax last year. You knew exactly what the risk was by voting no. You want to stick to your convictions on not publicly funding stadiums? Fine, that’s your belief. This is the consequence of it.

The last thing I’ll say, and I want to make a bigger post about this in the off-season, is there are still domed stadiums with great atmosphere. 4 of the Top 10 loudest stadiums in the NFL are the Superdome, Lucas Oil Stadium, US Bank Stadium and Jerry World. The Commanders and Browns also have exciting ideas for domed stadiums. If New Arrowhead is built like US Bank or Lucas Oil in particular I think you all would be surprised at how good the atmosphere will still be.

  4. The lack of development around the TSC for 50 years is an absolute failure of the city and the ownership group. Such a shame they wasted it

  5. In an attempt to talk about something other than the new stadium, for everyone wanting Andy Reid to remain as head coach, what do you think Reid’s strengths still are?

To me, there are three things I think a head coach needs to excel in the NFL:

    1) set a culture that the organization can lean on,

    2) build a competent and well run staff of coordinators and positional coaches, and

    3) manage and call an NFL game.

I always thought Andy was very underrated in #1, and he’s obviously a highly respected play caller. However, seeing Andy this year and the team has made me really question which of these he’s doing well in anymore. The players have looked listless since Brazil, the coaching staff nepotism is finally coming home to roost, and Andy’s play calling this year has been atrocious. His game management has been fine, but that’s a very low bar.

So what’s the positives to keeping Reid that people like me aren’t seeing?

  6. I’ve seen some early mock drafts having us taking Jeremiyah Love in the first round. A lot can change between now and April, but I don’t see us taking a running back in the first round over a position like defensive line, when we’re on track to have our first top 15, possibly top 10, pick in nearly a decade.
