Nobody knew how to abbreviate it when we came into the league and it took a few years for everybody (except for Sportsnet apparently) to settle on CBJ. I was seeing shit like CLM and COB those first couple years
Let me preface this by saying CBJ is the absolutely only way this team should be abbreviated, but most teams only their city name is abbreviated. So on some apps you’ll see ANA Duck, LA Kings, CHI Blackhawks, etc. It always makes me chuckle when I see “CBJ Blue Jackets” – it’s the same vibe as ATM Machine
