“The Cardinals and Red Sox also have discussed a trade that would send infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan to Boston, according to people briefed on the conversations. Donovan likely would play second base for the Red Sox, who have also been linked to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte.”

“We feel like we’ve got a competitive team and one that’s capable of a postseason run, but we also recognize that, at this point, the roster is probably incomplete.”

  20. I hear reports that most GMs do not like dealing with Breslow. He does not fit in, he is stuck on his model evaluations of players, he is more interested in “winning” the trade than finding a solution that benefits both teams.

    I like Donovan, he would be an upgrade. However, he is not the kind of needle mover that puts the Sox squarely in contention for the Division, let alone a World Series threat.

  32. Hello from St. Louis. I think that Donovan's talent hasn't translated accurately to paper. If he does indeed make the trip to Boston I think you will be surprised. 2026 may be his break out year. He is a solid solid player. Good Luck.

  33. Where you are doing is getting confused when Breslow says getting uncomfortable. He's not talking about him or the team he's talking to all of us fans bc it's the same old nonsense & lies.

    I like Bello I think he will be on the roster, but I do not value him more than Duran at this point bc he's to inconsistent on the mound. How long did he last in his playoff appearance again this past yr? Enough said! He definitely has the potential but we have been saying that for 3 yrs at least. I'd trade him quicker than Duran bc to me Duran speed & hustle on the base paths is something that can not be taught & doesn't come along that often. I think he is one of the most underrated Red Sox baseball players ever. He's an all star MVP for goodness sakes. That should stand for something. He's also proven he can fight through adversity & play in Boston with the media attention. Fans do love his hustle also. Bello hasn't proved he can pitch in Bron honestly. He's too emotional still. He pitches better away from Fenway that at Fenway. Again that's a huge deal to me.

    As for the trade no. It serves no purpose when we need much better players than that. You said it all by saying they could go get anyone of the guys mention in Bregman which should of been done yet again more lies from the Red Sox front office. They could easily get Marte or Bo Bichette. They could easily have all 3 if they would be willing to actually do what it takes to win a WS but they won't. They refuse to go over the 2nd luxery tax threshold. That is why nothing Breslow said all offseason has happened. They make it always sound great, but it's always lies until further notice. Yes this team is incomplete. It was incomplete last yr & they still don't have Bregman. Gray just replaced Giolito in my opinion. So no better on the pitching side of rhings either. The best move they made so far this offseason was resigning Chapman after the yr he had. I figured they would let him walk given his age.

    Whats is so very frus3besides them still refusing to act like a big market team is they have waited & made us fans wait for all their prospects to blossom into MLB players. Now you need a solid #2 pitcher who could be a #1 if need be in some cases which isn't happening. They need power in the libyo as well. The only way I can see this off season as any kind of success is resign Bregman trade for Marte. That's it & the only way. They need both or the off season was a failure & the team us basically the same or worse than ladt yrs even if they finally stop talking a big game ðsifn Bregman already. Red sox fans need to wake up to this nonsense that's gone on for 7 yrs now. They can print their own money yet they won't pay anyone that's on a HOF of a definate lick as an upgrade that's over 30 or they have to give more than 4 yrs to. Accept it now so your not disappointed in February.
