MLB Rumors: Red Sox Reportedly Considering Eugenio Suarez Amid Alex Bregman Drama

I don’t want Suarez at all personally. Wouldn’t be happy at all if that is the 3b move.

I mean it’s probably good for negotiations to at least present that we have credible alternative options right?
He hit 49 home runs last year, why are y’all making sour milk faces at this idea?

If we pass on Bregman for Suarez right after we moved Devers to make room for Bregman’s defense… then that means that in the long run, we replaced a bad defensive 3B who is a great hitter with a bad defensive 3B who is not as great of a hitter. Thanks Bres you fucking stiff

I like Suarez way more than most of this sub and I think his pull power would be crazy good at Fenway. But I was more interested him in playing 1B a lot, and only being the backup 3B in case Bregman went down. He’s probably the best plan B if they don’t re-sign Bregman, but that should be the obvious plan A.
I’m beginning to think free agents also don’t really want to play here. They see what we see: an ownership group unwilling to pay long-term who will only invest enough to stay above mediocre.
This feels like gauging the DH market if they decide to trade Duran. If the Sox can try to use it to ratchet up the pressure on Bregman and his agent, so be it. But it would be shocking to have Suarez playing 3B next year.
I like Suarez, but there’s no spot for him now that we traded for Contreras.
Bregman or Bichette. That’s it.
Hopefully this is just leverage to push bregman to take their offer, if it’s not bregman it needs to be bichette
