Why do people think there’s a rivalry with the Giants?

  1. They compete for headlines in the market, also Woody is slimey and disgusting, why would anyone respect him or any property he owns?

  2. There isn’t. It’s not at all like Yankees Mets. The Giants would gladly trade with us. Wfan started this nonsense

  3. Someone from the Giants is probably leaking this to Connor hoping it’ll make its way to Woody

  4. WFAN and that fat douchebag Shaun Morash are probably the ones fueling this fire. They absolutely will trade with us.

  5. We play them once a year in pre season deff not a rivalry 😂 😂😂 we will give you the snoop trophy this yer as an add on to the pix

  6. There may be a small one amongst the owners, but I fail to really see how. Other than the Giants being awful recently, I don’t see why the GM of the Giants would want to take a worse deal- even if it’s by 1%- from someone else just to spite the Jets. I get that they’d be embarrassed in the future if they trade the rights to Mendoza & he turns into Tom Brady and then they have to hear about it every day for 10+ years, but in all reality…the Giants owner is 71, the GM will likely be gone by then anyway, I legit can’t even remember the name of their HC since Daboll got fired…the Jets having a good QB for ten years starting two years from now should mean nothing to these guys.

Make the trades to maximize value for your own team- that’s your actual job; this isn’t Yankees- Red Sox….and by the damn way, this is the same team that let Saquon go to their actual rival, who won a Super Bowl with him.

Worry about that, not the Jets. At the end of the day, until proven otherwise….they’re still the Jets.

  7. The rivalry is be fans and fans alone. People forget that to the teams, it’s just business. Teams with be reluctant to trade with division rivals because that directly affects them having to play each other twice a year every year. Teams that are in different conferences? Well, considering the Jets and Giants only play every four years and neither is much of a factor in the other’s success or failure, there would be no reason for the Giants to not want to trade with the Jets.

  8. The Giants fans straight hated us during the Rex years (everyone hated Rex, though. I dont particularly think he talked shit, just that everyone else was coached by a PR minded Belichick clone at the time). But i think in the last 10 years when both teams have been god awful any animosity drained away.

Which wouldn’t be the case in a real rovalry. But even their old half-assed “they’re the little brothers” schtick doesn’t play when you’re losing as much as they are, and I haven’t seen much of it lately.

  9. Every 3 years when we play it’s fun to shit talk my giant fan friends. That’s about it i think of any rivalry.

Look at woody and Mara united in their refusal to get grass down at MetLife. Achilles hating besties.

  10. My dad is a giants fan and I’m a Jets fan and we have always rooted for each other’s team. We dream of that legendary ny giants vs ny jets Superbowl

  11. I dont get it either. 55 year jet fan here. But always wish the best for giants. Of course unless they play jets. Guess its same with mets yanks too

  12. its kinda obvious why they dont do deals like this, if one team is on the wrong side of trade, you have that player in your same city and stadium rubbing in your faces

  13. It would be different if it were an intra division deal but they play each other every 3-4 years. That would be organizational malpractice. They have a package in mind for a pick, they should take the best package no matter who is giving it.

  14. Why do people think the colts pick is better than getting a 1 next year from the raiders?

  15. There is no way the Giants would take a lesser trade return to avoid dealing the Jets.

Let’s fact it, if I was them I would have little worry that the Jets were going to develop who they draft correctly and somehow outcompete me in the market.

  16. Sibling rivalry.. share stadium.. neither wants to give the other Joe Montana potentially & have to hear about it forever which is not illogical.

That being said, it’s a tie breaker level of rivalry if two offers are even.. it’s not a ‘premium’

  17. They would trade with us if it benefitted them, but they won’t want to be “little brother” to us if they can help it. I think I agree with Connor here, they would rather give that pick to someone else on the off chance they’d be giving us our franchise QB. But it’s not the same as a division rivalry and if the package were the best they got they’d do it

  18. There is no rivalry between the Jets and Giants. We’re both ass. We’re in different conferences. We rarely have notable games outside of silly pre-season action.

  19. Is this a serious post? Are you one of these “I root for all NY teams” people? I mean, that’s fine, but it’s definitely not the norm

  20. Rivalry isn’t the right word but I could see it getting into their minds that they don’t want to help the team sharing their stadium become good when their future is still questionable. The Jets might have the same complex where if they trade up with the Giants for Mendoza and he’s a bust and those 2-3 picks they gave the Giants help them turn their franchise around people will talk.

They shouldn’t listen to talk like that but when you’re two franchises at lows like this the back page is the only place where you can win so it might affect something.

It’ll be interesting to see if they get something done (or if they even have to).

  21. Aside from the Raiders, who are the Giants going to trade that #1 to? Arizona? New Orleans?

Jets have more capital and aren’t in the NFC.

  22. I mean the Giants beat Brady twice. That makes them friend. They are in the same city/stadium. That makes them foe. Realistically I don’t care what the Giants are doing. And of late they suck as much as us so there is no envy going on.

  23. NY tabloids/media/talking heads want nothing more than there to be some sort of controversy so they’ll try talking it into existence.

  24. My only beef with Giants fans is when one of them tries to relate with me about how rough it’s been for both of us.

Brother, you’ve witnessed two superbowls in your life, I don’t want to fucking hear it.

  25. If you’re trading the number 1 pick you don’t take discounts. Just because they share the same shitty stadium doesn’t entitle the jets to anything.

  26. Y’all won’t get it unless you grew up in a mostly-giants town during their 08 and 11 runs. And I couldn’t even root against them because it was against NE!!! That OT win against them in 2015 was hilarious however.

  27. Giants don’t need a QB, so why are we worried about getting ahead of them in the draft?
