The Winnipeg Jets Need a Reality Check

The Winnipeg Jets are one of the worst teams in the NHL this season. Most teams in their situation would start to look at the future, and eliminate issues. However, the Jets seem to be in denial about how poor their situation actually is.

  2. At this point it seems like Chevy is aiming for that sweet spot where you don’t get into the playoffs and as an added bonus, you also don’t get a decent draft pick. But if we somehow do get a decent pick he’ll be buried in the minors.

  5. Out with Nyquist and Pearson and others game to game, in with Lambert, Yager, Barlow and Chibrikrov. Get Salomonsson in there, too. Let the younger guys show what they've got and/or up their trade value.

  6. I feel same as you this team isn't going anywhere and for me it's not on Arniel he's tried everything he can the players bottom9 and Chevy are to blame.

    Chipman as well this loyalty/family bs only works if players actually try after a while they are happy,steady situation and money and quit trying.

    I'm not for getting any UFA or old player unless it's dirt cheap like a Stephenson if it's like Lambert+3rd+He.
    Definitely no ones touching that 1st it could be a top 5 pick and get CarsonCarels from Manitoba.

    As for any player on jets even Perfetti if a big deal is there trade them.
    Perfetti,Lambert,Chibrikov,Barlow,Nino,Iafallo,Vlad,Schenn,Miller,Stanley,Nyquist,Toews.
    I feel jets fans are delusional they feel cause team is losing Iafallo,Namestnikov,Neidereitter ect have 0 value when they just got a 2nd+4th for Marchment.

    Guys I feel fit jets most is Kasper in Detroit 21 isn't having great year was healthy Scratched like Perfetti.
    And
    KentJohnson 23yrs old had 24g33a and now has fallen off.

    Even Salmonsson/Boumedienne/Freijs I would trade if player comming back was say a Power,Byram,Parayko.
    I'm fed up with even a guy like Demelo and would take a dman play with Morrissey instead.

    I don't even feel trades are hard to make
    Detroit wouldn't do a
    Lambert/or Chibrikov+Nino for Kasper?
    Or
    Lambert or Chibrikov+Iafallo for KentJohnson

    Salmonsson or Boumedienne+Demelo+Barlow for Byram.
    Or use assets you get say Nino for a 2nd or Stanley for 2nd and now you have 2 2nd rounder use in deals it's not hard if your willing.

  8. If a lot of the young blood isn’t in the lineup by the new year, this is all Chevy’s fault. Period. It was a shame they weren’t playing them when they were first in the league. This is even worse

  12. I feel the lower we go in the standings this year, the better. The absolute best case scenario is drafting top 4. The BEST. The good news to that end is since we didn’t take advantage of the easier stretch of schedule with a fully healthy roster, we have the 3rd hardest schedule remaining and a lot of ground to cover.
    I truly believe this team with Helle is better than bottom 3 in the league but fortunately we've underperformed our way into the lottery.
    Every move from now on must be fot next year. All our major players are locked down for at least 3 years, and will likely have some value in that time frame.
    IF we draft a player good enough to immediately crack the lineup, and Salamonsson and one of Lambert or Chibrikov joins the club next year, i would trade every single other asset to get another top 6 player or good defenseman, and take a run.
    Failing that, we're not a playoff team. Trade JMo since his contract is expiring and he'll get a haul in return. In a true rebuild, KC too.
    I'd keep Samberg. Helle as long as he wants. Lows – because i don't think we'd get optimal value back and in a rebuild hed be a good example for younger players.
    Scheifle would likely get less return in a trade and we're too weak at center anyway.
    Move off of literally any depth player at the deadline this year. Nobody isn't expendable. We need to stockbup on picks and prospects.
    But the goal definitely isn't playoffs this year.
