I met Joe at a store grand opening about 35 years ago. I was a 9 year old kid wearing a Jets sweater, standing in a long line to get into the store. He had been doing an autograph signing, and his people were ushering him out. He was walking past the line, waving goodbye when he saw me in my Jets sweater. He stopped his people and walked right over to me and got down to talk to me saying “I need to shake this young man’s hand”. He asked me a couple questions, shook my hand with his giant paws, then headed on his way.
I’ve suffered many years of heartache, disappointment, and apathy as a Jets fan, but that one moment ensured no matter how bad the team can ever be because that man sold our souls for that one Super Bowl, I will forever remain a fan.

Sold our franchise to the Devil, shame.
