Much like the Fulda Gap, needs more Tank
We will be fine once lane comes back. The passing game has opened some things up as well.
Will feel a lot better when lane is back
It was against bad teams, but there has been tremendous improvement in the play calling and scheme. Whether that is sustainable against real teams or not is going to be the next big question. Getting Lane back will also obviously be a big help as well.
Encouraged for sure. If they want to go to another level they’ll change pace with Bigsby more often. They don’t call him TANK for no reason
In all seriousness, Tank has an explosiveness that Shipley and Dillon just don’t have. He’s a legit starter-level running back. North-south guy. Doesn’t dance. No coincidence that when he gets the ball good things happen
It’s starting to come together and the line is meshing, I just wanna see more Tank put in to switch up the feel and keep fresh legs.
I’m looking forward to see how they do with Buffalo.
Other teams have been praised all year for their performance vs bad teams. We’ve beaten lots of other good teams; I think we deserve to be happy/excited. Big test this weekend though.
Not too encouraged. Outside of a couple runs, Barkley kept getting stuffed at the line.
Grant Calcaterra needs to not be on the field. It’s a waste of a down. They used Pryor as a 6th OL like they were using Fred earlier this year, so more of that if they want to run from a “2 TE” set.
They were having success running from shotgun where they’ve struggled all year, I wonder if that wasn’t just because they were bad teams.
More under center, more pistol, more 6 OL. More variety. Do a healthy amount of play action or just straight passes from those formations instead of basically telling the defense it’s a run. That will help the run game.
More Tank, early and often. Last year Saquon did a lot of his damage in the 2nd half. Let Tank help soften them up.
I think Patullo should try more runs up the middle
It’s not getting fixed until the offseason. We can only hope it won’t be a liability for the next six weeks.
i think a problem with the run earlier this season is that as soon as Saquon got stuffed at the line or hit in the backfield they would just abandon it entirely. Last couple games they have been sticking with it even when there’s some unsuccessful ones which allows good runs to happen. I think the OL has also been blocking better as well, when Lane comes back I suspect the run will be a lot more effective.
I’m also a Tank fan and really hope they start to use him more and not just to give Saquon a break.
Having seen Philly sports playoff arcs. I prefer to struggle early / mid season and get momentum going into the playoffs. I feel like being the underdog is how Philly thrives.
I will answer this Sunday night.
The blocking has been atrocious. They really need to invest in a real fullback and some blocking tight ends this offseason. Calcantarra has been god awful this year and even Goedert has been rough in the run game
We won’t really know till the playoffs. Bills have the worst run defense in the league and the commies game will be a bye week for most of the starters.
I’m optimistic about our chances in the playoffs but i don’t think we are head and shoulders above the competition like last year
There are still a lot of plays where the back gets hit in the backfield
I’m not totally sold but I’m hopeful
I have always said, and will still say that the Eagles are the only team that can beat the Eagles. It just depends which version shows up to play.
I’m still surprised Jurgens made the pro bowl. Sure seems like a ton of getting hit at the Line up the middle this year.
The overall offensive scheme has improved, which makes the run game stronger. I feel good
Very encouraged! I think that we have finally added back in Jalen’s mobility which forces the defense to compensate, that opens up the door for Saquon to rip and roll through the pockets. I’m optimistic we will see 100yards rushing against the Bills and continue improving.
I subscribe to the “sometimes you need to see the ball go through the hoop” theory. Regardless of who it was against, I know it felt good to get things moving and build that confidence. Those were still 2 NFL teams we played against
The run game has struggled against bad teams/defenses this season, too (e.g., Dallas both times, first Giants game). I’ll take any positivity that’s available.
I am encouraged by the progress. These are professionals, but I imagine going through a slump does something mentally which is why sports psychology exist
They beat the bad teams pretty convincingly which is what good teams should do so that is encouraging. The last good defense they played got 5 turnovers so we’ll see if they actually turned the page this week.
Pretty good we got saquon to 1k after people called him washed
They did what they were supposed to against a garbage and an exhausted defense, it’s more avoided total disaster than proved they were back to last years form but with how the previous weeks went I’ll take it as a step in the right direction
I’m starting to feel excited. But I feel I can’t let it out unless we beat Buffalo and it’s not a struggle doing so. I think last two games put some fire back in the team’s belly and that if they continue the momentum then we can confidently say again that we’re a dangerous team for the playoffs and everyone else will have to at least consider that
3 games. He had 122 on 20 carries against the Chargers.
We need to do it against a good defense
Not very
I think it’s more important for the line and the backs to put up positive results. Finally getting rewarded for their hard work this season.
I still saw far too many runs up the middle in the gameplan
I just need to see somewhat competent offense. I fully trust this defense to carry them through the playoffs. Offense doesn’t have to be the best ever, just needs to capitalize on turnovers and run clock late in games
It looking a lot better progress is the key
BIRDS BY A BILLION! GO BIRDS! Merry Christmas yall!!!!!!
Jalen starting to get more involved with the run game and scrambling better will unlock the run game for hopefully a deep playoff run. When Jalen is a threat as a runner, defenses will have to pick their poison
Not very to be honest.
All it takes is one game to get the confidence back
Beating the shit out of bad teams is good. Also while I wouldn’t say “oh okay everything is fixed now” things are definitely trending in the right direction. Even if the Eagles lose to Buffalo if our offense puts up a fight I’ll be really encouraged.
If every team that played the raiders or commanders went off for 50 yard runs a game it wouldn’t be encouraging
