Do the Thunder Have a Spurs PROBLEM?

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs just beat the Oklahoma City Thunder for the third time in a row on NBA Christmas and it’s got people talking about if the Spurs are the Thunder’s kryptonite and the top challenger for the NBA crown that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and OKC currently hold.

  1. San ou lit pas San antonio n'a pas trop d expérience en playoff mais wemby si il a jouer la finale des jo qui est bien plus physique que la nba a'ors qui vivra verra 👌

  2. During the late big 3 era of spurs, even around the time of the two finals appearances, the pelicans who would win 20-30 games a year, would routinely sweep or near sweep the spurs in the regular season. So much so that eventually pop just called it a scheduled loss and sat the big 3 for rest.
    Kryptonite, we all have it.

Also, i remember when a young upstart team was surprising good when they pulled out a triple point guard lineup. Maybe okc could use a reliable shooter who has previously played with the team. I hear there is one in los Angeles that just got fired

  3. 7:47 – Shai's not the best in the world. It's Jokic and the only reason you're saying that is cause you're an OKC fan. Shai didn't deserve MVP last season. Voter fatigue just kicked in. But everyone and their mother knows Jokic is waaaay better than FTA

  4. You can also make a argument the Spurs could crush the thunder even more if Wemby plays his full minutes remember that the Spurs are kicking their ass with Wemby not starting

  5. "Shai is maybe the best in the world." Umm…no. That really should be put to bed by now. He's the second best player in the world right now. No shame in that. Jokic is currently having a top 5 peak of all time.

  6. Spurs have more shooting talent and you cant say they hve better shooting luck. Also harrison barnes literally went like 0/8 but we only mentioned caruso’s lows? and caruso literally made a three. And like everyones saying, in the playoff matchup, wemby will play 10-15 more minutes. people still writing off the spurs even tho they are literally 2.5 games back and have swept the team ahead of them so far, and gotten thru the hard part of their schedule there. i dont want to say the spurs are title contenders to the highest degree, but i think people are in denial that they could be this good already. I think you make valid points but also a lot of biased points

  7. Chet is an awesome player but I think in upcoming yearly matchups (if Wemby stays healthy) we will see how hillarious of a comp it was for them their early years. Chet is not a cheat code. That of course is not only reason by far spurs have been whooping butt.. but was also basis for their teams rivalry so it’s relevant

  8. It's fun to speculate for both teams in the regular season but if the Spurs can keep that same energy when it matters IF they make the playoffs then OKC will REALLY have a true kryptonite in the Spurs. Just a thought of course. The rest of the Western conference won't be easy on the Spurs or OKC.

  9. Without getting too deep into it. Your take comes of as "If we make more shots we would win this game". That can be said of almost every team in every game ever…. If the Spurs shot well in 1st half of the cup game. They win by 20. Making 3 double digit wins.

Maybe take a step back when talking about your own team and try applying your logic to the rest of the league and see if it holds up.

  10. Why is it that difficult to say “ yeah we lost we got dominated , we need to improve and we will “ it’s not that hard , that being said , it was so brutal I understand why Thunder fans feel the need to cope 😂😂😂😂

  11. Yeah, while i dont wanna pile on the Thunder hate here, their record against over .500 teams isnt great.

And though they have had some insane blowouts this year, they also had a ton of really close games. Their schedule was the easiest in the league prior to the Spurs games (dunno if its still the easiest now).

No doubt that the Thunder are the best in the league, but its a long season and a lot to prove. This Thunder offense has been shaky for years and its never quite been as solid as the net rating would suggest. If not for Shai, this team would be straight up ass on offense.

And their defense is like any other top defense in league history. Highly depends on the refs. When people talk about OKC getting a faborable whistle they dont get why. Its not cause the league favors them, its cause refs cant always see every single contact of foul/ dont have time to check. So they go by reputation. And guess what team just so happens to have multiple all defense players on their roster.

All great defenders get this bennefit of the doubt, but sometimes refs are gonna be less inclinef to do that. Just saying dont be shocked if the Thunder lose in the playoffs because of the refs.

That said, there is still around 50ish games of the season left to play and who knows how each teams season develops

  12. What's stopping okc from making a trade? Couldn't we trade ousmane ding and some picks for some more playmaking, shot creating and 3 point shooting?
