You all simply don’t get it. Trae and JJ are the only two ppl on this roster that should be considered untouchable.
JJ, because if he gets his defensive skills to at least a moderate level, he will be a beast. Trae for multiple reasons – He can make even the trashiest players serviceable. He is 1 of the two best passers in the league. He can actually run an offense. But most importantly, the Hawks are a BUSINESS! Outside of Trae Young, there are ZERO players on this roster that casuals would pay to see. Ask any random person on the street to name two Hawks players, they will say “The Ice Trae guy” then give up. Regardless of how you feel…he is a superstar. F Trae Young chants are still being heard in The Garden. Casuals are excited to see him hit those parking lot threes that you all hate so much! Rappers name drop him in songs. You all don’t understand that you don’t just pay superstars to win, you also pay them to be superstars. Trae Young is Atl.

If Trae was really untouchable he wouldve been offered a contract already. The only untouchable player we have is Jalen.
All I’m gonna say is if Trae had been sent to NO in the summer before last season instead of DJM and we’d gotten the difference in their market value at the time back in addition to what we got for Murray, the Hawks would be in a much better spot right now.

If Trae had enough value to grab Anthony Davis, or a guard that 100% supports Onsi’s vision (if Trae 100% fit it, he’d be extended), he’d already be gone.
His trade value is extremely low relative to his allure around the city and reputation, because of his salary demands, ball-dominate style, and tough fit for most rosters in general. That doesn’t make him bad like some people make him out to be. He is polarizing.
The league is less about star power and more about basketball fit these days. That’s what wins and sell real tickets

I’m with ya bro. I just can’t understand how any roster in the world is better without Trae Young. If it’s not working figure it out. It took a few years for the Celtics to figure out Tatum and Brown . We’ll figure it out too. JJ is a relatively new cog in the equation. DD Naw and ZR are nice but mostly this roster just lacks experience and doesn’t know what it takes to win. Most teams that win have a lot of experience losing first. We don’t trade our best guys we keep re-tooling until we get it right. The Rockets for example have a ton of guys they drafted in the top 5 to get where they are. Same with San Antonio. We’ve only been lucky drafty high 1 time since Trae. Hopefully next yrs pick is another blue chipper and gets us over the hump. We are close and everyone is having a meltdown lol. I wouldn’t call them untouchable but I wouldn’t trade them for picks. I need a star player in return or we are just setting back our timeline and praying for draft picks to hit
Count me in as delusional because I do not think Trae is untouchable any longer. IMO, the Hawks have went as far as they could in the Trae Young era and it might be time for both parties to move on.
I have always defended Trae including the draft day trade of eight years ago and still do. If Trae was 6’8″ there would be little drop off from the two players. In other words, Trae has more than held his own by himself and didn’t need the 10th pick to be included which turned out to be Cam Reddish.

Hawks don’t really have untouchable pieces. Yes, that includes Trae and Jalen. The franchise is pretty much at an impasse and has been long before Trae got here but more glaring now with all circumstances after the ECF to this point.
It’s, unfortunately, the reality of the organization now.
That being said, I think everyone from the fans to outside noise are doing a little much with everything in having ideas to make this team better.
Equating an entertaining player to being a championship player is nonsensical. No one doubts Trae ability to be exciting. We doubt his ability to lead a team to a chip. His archetype has 0 chips as lead dog.

This MF really called Trae a superstar. If we move on from Trae, not having to hear this drivel from his stans will be a blessing.
