Ruben Amorim was not afraid to take some major risks during Manchester United’s win over Newcastle United.

After frustrating results against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, Manchester United beat Newcastle United 1-0 to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Patrick Dorgu scored the winner in style with his first goal at Old Trafford and United showed resilience to hold off Newcastle late in the match despite having a very inexperienced defence.

Amorim hinted that he would trust in youth against Newcastle, and he delivered on that promise with United ending the match with several youngsters on the pitch.

The substitutions made in the second half were questioned by Gary Neville, and it seems Casemiro was also surprised by Amorim’s decision-making.

Last week, Casemiro was suspended and missed the trip to Aston Villa and he was a huge miss in midfield, especially as Kobbie Mainoo was injured and Bruno Fernandes had to come off.

Casemiro returned to the starting line-up against Newcastle, but he was taken off and replaced by Leny Yoro on the hour mark.

According to Sky Sports: “Casemiro seemed shocked to be the one going off. It is Dalot and Dorgu as the wide players with full-backs behind them now. Amorim springing surprise after surprise.”

In the final few minutes, Amorim took off Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw – two of United’s most senior players – and put his faith in Tyrell Malacia and Fredricson.

Ruben Amorim is showing complete faith in full squad

Knowing that Fernandes is out for a month with a hamstring injury, Amorim called on players to step up and become leaders in his absence.

United’s record without Fernandes is bleak, but the players who were available dug deep and showed brilliant spirit to not only win, but also to keep a clean sheet.
