I don’t buy it at all. I think Romero got bad info. The Sox already have too many infielders. And while I don’t think Miguel Vargas is a locked in 3B, there’s zero reason to give Moncada a job.
Also Moncada was terrible at 3B last year – the only value he really had. -13 OAA in barely half a season. Just awful.
This makes zero sense from a baseball standpoint, not even factoring in any attitude concerns.
No harm in signing him at a low price. I never thought his effort was the issue, like some believed. If nothing else, he can’t be any worse than Josh Rojas and the new player development squad gets a crack at him.

To be honest I don’t agree there is no fit. Moncada was actually okay last year and I still believe you could move him around. He would be an upgrade to the 26 man roster. I mean to say, it’s not that crazy on paper.
And still, I just don’t believe this. There’s too much baggage. The fit is not nearly good enough. I mean by the Eaton comp here is almost egregious
Moncada plays 12 games per season. Fucking waste of money.
