It’s gone down but it’s not gone.
Coincides with the rise of the deflection
Makar had one against the canes a year or two ago and it completely changed the game. It’s gets everyone pumped up.
The answer to a question that no one asked
Bring back Al MacInnis
Slap shot goes along with old school hockey mentality. Tough and hard is better than quick and skilled. (Shooting, skating, everything, general play style, etc)
Don’t get me wrong, there is still a need for tough and hard. But skill, quickness, precision etc is becoming more and more important.
Anyone heard of the Great 8? The one timer slap shot has earned him the title of the greatest goal scorer of all time.
Tage Thompson would like a word, he didn’t get the memo.
Rumours of its demise have been greatly exaggerated
New stick technology and shooting analytics.
Love a good piss missile
Bring back the wood stick.
The super sticks they use today turn a wrist or snap shot into a slapper for all intents and purposes.
Baseball puts limits on the bats, swimming limits on the suits, I wonder if they are coming for the tech in sticks.
(Laughs in Josh Morrissey)
Scott Laughton on a breakaway would like to have a word with you.
Literally jus watched bouch bury one
I’m thinking of Scotty Laughton on a breakaway.
The wristers these guys are doing these days are tougher to stop for goalies. They all do the sort of half toe drag which changes the angle and then the release is quicker.
When you see a guy windup for a clapper, you have time to basically put yourself in front of the puck and all you have to do is butterfly and it’s an easy save no matter how fast it’s going. Very easy to play the angle on a clapper.
