The HIDDEN KEY in 49ers vs Bears | Purdy vs Caleb + HISTORIC Kittle
** CORRECTION: I said Caleb has 6 INT’s in his career, its 12… the stat was wrong BUT the point remains!

We start with the hidden key to 49ers vs Bears, then talk about Purdy and Caleb and George Kittle’s incredible year… at 15:20 mark, two of my favorite TV calls I’ve had while talking about Kyle Whittingham to Michigan.

  1. I think refs should also get penalized like players if it was determined they made the wrong calls. It doesn't have to be a lot, just like $10 each.

  2. Good observation! I agree that roughing the passer will be impactful if it happens. Another critical factor is turnovers. Whoever turns it over less, is highly likely to win. That favors the Bears. QB completion % is also important. Rushing yards is big. QB pressures is big. If Niners get zero pressure on Williiams, Bears will likely win.

  3. Averaging 20 thrown flags per game seems absurdly high. Are you sure that’s correct, Guy? That’d be about 10 flags per team per game. Maybe I’m misunderstanding and those are just the amount of thrown flags, and not the amount of accepted penalties? That would make a lot more sense.

  4. All these nfl records come up with have so many irrelevant caveats. Purdy is not Montana or young. Caleb is not a great qb, he is serviceable. If your having to come back in a bunch of low scoring games, with some miracle outcomes does not speak well to how you played in the preceding 58mins.

  5. If the bears do get turnovers expect the Niners to lose. I agree this team needs to stay disciplined in order to not give up the football. Plus they need to tackle better in order to stop the run.

  6. The Bears were really lucky to get out of the Green Bay game with a win. They recovered an onside kick and Green Bay had their second string QB most of the game.

  7. What I've seen as the difference between Caleb from this year and last year is the results of his scrambling. Last year he took a lot of sacks. This year, he throws it away much sooner. He doesn't seem to make a lot of good throws when pressured, but he doesn't take sacks.

  8. This is why you don't overly rely on AI and don't double check it's hallucinations. Then to believe Caleb has only thrown 6 picks in his career without checking it yourself is wild
