in podz last 10 games he’s averaged 13.2pts 4.2r & 4.1ast on 54.5/46/81 shooting with a 69.4 ts%. additionally, he averages a 3.7+/-making his total +/- over the last 10 games 37.

podz can make some stupid ass decisions that frustrate the hell out of me sometimes but when he’s put in a position to succeed he’s actually a solid ball player. he should’ve never been asked to be a primary ball handler; this role off the bench suits him far better. with less pressure on his shoulders he’s been hitting some big, timely shots over the past couple of games. i really don’t see a reason we should actively shop him and i think that we should do our best to keep him for the long term (if we can get him for cheap.) learning the gsw/kerr’s offensive/defensive schemes takes multiple seasons to master and podz has extensive experience with it only adding to his value.

this is all coming from a former podz hater. im a big enough man to admit when i was wrong and i was wrong about podz. he’s a solid player who was asked to do too much.

i’m kind of just curious what the fan base thinks about keeping him long-term. thoughts?

  1. yeah, he’s been a plus coming off the bench. i think his ego can handle it. its a good fit.

edit: i’ll add that coming off the bench, he takes that three and you have a good feeling. his energy is good, and he plays without the weight of the world. maybe he eventually grows into a starting roll, but its a damn good thing we got melton.

  2. If you think of Podz as a solid role player off the bench he’s great at that role. A lot of hate came from the period when Steph was out and he was playing a lot of minutes running point, his comments also don’t help. His contract situation will be interesting because I’m sure he’s going to wanna be paid well.

  3. I just want the fanbase to remember this good spell for when he inevitably has a bad one… Even you commented a month ago that you dont like the minutes hes getting, lol.

Now we’re praising him like hes the messiah. He’ has a good run of games and is a reliable role player.. ride the good with the bad.

He’s on $4m currently and is worth keeping long term if he doesnt demand too much money.

  4. A lot of credit should be given to Kerr too. Moving Podz from the 1 to the 2 really makes him look a lot better. Something about being the primary ball handler seemed to put too much pressure on him. He’s thriving now.

  5. The problem has always been misuse by Steve Kerr, not Podz’ skillset. As long as he’s on our roster, Kerr will continue to use him to sabotage our seasons. We shouldn’t risk keeping him

  6. you all are blowing up this guy for no fucking reason, we need to trade him while his stock is skyrocketing

  7. This sub: maximize Currys window now

Also this sub: but dont trade anyone promising/playing well

  8. Not saying Podziemski is going to get near the same contract value, but he has 2.6 VORP in his career to Jordan Poole’s 0.8 in like a quarter of the career games.

  9. He is role player as long he understands his role he is gonna be fine also don’t give him a mic dude says some of the most stupid shit in the history of mankind also credit to kerr for managing him better and not play him 35min per night also steph playing helps him a lot before without steph he was exposed.

  10. My problem w him is that he hits a 3 and then only wants the ball back. He doesn’t look to pass, doesn’t look to rebound. Just sits out there calling for the ball.

  11. Whatever his mindset has been since coming off the bench is working. Hes less pass happy and is taking his scoring opportunities with confidence or decisiveness

  12. At his salary, he’s a sold – not elite – role player. Much better when he’s playing his natural position, the 2. Not a good ball handler. Good hustle. Just about any team would be happy to have him on their roster – again, at current salary. He’s also a good trade sweetener, but as long as he’s not starting or playing starting minutes, I’m fine with him.

  13. Agreed, he’s got his groove and found enough peace in his role to focus on playing within himself. We are not actively shopping him, but it is ridiculous to think he’s off the table. Teams require value for value, so if they think a high-end bench combo guard is something they need or can flip, they’ll ask for him and the FO will consider it carefully.

  14. I’m not a Podz hater but certainly been a bit of a critic of his. My main criticism was that he was overused. On top of that he wasn’t playing well for a while to start the season. But Kerr finally took him out of the starting (and closing) lineups and what do ya know he miraculously started playing better. I really do think Podz’s role as a high end bench guard slots him more appropriately and takes the pressure off. But ultimately he’s just been playing better so that’s props to him. The mistake would be to use his recent success as a reason to elevate him in the rotation again. Keep him right where he’s at and he’ll be fine I believe.

  15. We’re lucky to have him at the moment at his salary and with Melton and Jimmy, freed up. We could not have done the last two games without Moody and Podz then Gui, Melton and Podz. May we continue to get the pieces we need to thrive.

  16. Yeah he’s playing decent enough these last 10 games to get traded. Good on him 👍

  17. Anyone who has to to say “I’m a big enough man” makes them looks like less of a “man”
