Shea was a dump. But it was our dump. I’ll never forget my first baseball game there.
Loved that place
Went to my first game at Shea as a 6 year old in 1994. My Dad took me to multiple games a year every year after through 2006. I regret not going at all in 07 and 08 regardless of how those seasons ended.
Thank you for sharing! That was a nice trip down memory lane
Btw I was at the blackout game
Still miss the ol girl
I’ll always remeber every Met game I went to and walking from the concourse to the seats and seeing the field for the first time that day. Was always a good feeling.
Good stuff. Thanks for posting this.
This guy wasn’t kidding about the upper level seats being waaaay up there. I remember looking waaaay down at the ants flying around the field while those planes roared right over our heads. The place could best be summed up by a lyric from the song Tobacco Road – “I despise you ‘cause you’re filthy, but I love you ‘cause you’re home.”
Still remember my last visit to the place on a group bus trip, and watching the neon players on the sides retreat into the distance with tears in my eyes as the bus pulled away. I knew I’d never see it again.
Attended many jets games there. Just an awful cold and windy experience
I witnessed a lot of great games there.
The free military tickets were often 500 level, but right behind home. Great place to see a ball game
