The Lakers Have A LeBron Problem…

The LA Lakers are struggling right now and I think they have a LeBron James problem around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves

  1. Lakers had the easiest first half of the season schedule and they played a lot of very bad teams, including Sacramento which I is literally the worst team in the nba…. Lakers s being exposed as the bad team they always have been. They literally have no defense especially with LeBron and Luka both on the floor…

  2. Lebron is 41. Why is anyone surprised he’s fading? Not a single player in NBA history has played at a near peak level at age 41. The Lakers aren’t truly competitive. They are the only team in the NBA with a record above .500 that has a negative point differential.

  3. It is a weird year for the Lakers. Despite the record, they feel like a middling team. Some years, they were slightly above .500, but felt like a much better team. This year is reversed. It's like this: I ate at the Blue Bayou at Disneyland once. A 5 star restaurant. But after eating and paying $30 for the meal (this was in the 1980s), it didn't taste like a 5 star meal. That's how the 25-26 Lakers feel like to me.

  4. We all want Lebron to leave. Real Lakers fans of 20-30 years have all been praying he will leave. We don’t want him on the team. Or Bronny. Bronny has zero value in the league. It’s embarrassing to be stuck with both of them.

  5. I think thier refusal to have Hachimura (who is a worse defender than a 41-year old Lebron) off the bench to balance the bench scoring, along with Reaves being out is where the bulk of the blame should go, even with LBJ being as old as he is. To me that's coaching decisions. I like how they start Reaves and Luka then stagger them across the game.

  6. I feel like these are such obvious truisms but the average NBA viewer is extremely low IQ.

The next truth people will eventually arrive at is the Luka arrived in the league at his ceiling. He hasn't actually improved his skill set and is entirely overrated. He plays a losing brand of basketball, much like Lebron

  7. All on LeBron but nothing on their worst defensive player LUKA . SMH . LeBron gonna be ggone and everybody gonna blame ayton after and never blame Luka

  8. A Lebron-less Lakers will still not move to the upper echelon of the West when the 2 starting guards of Luka and AR have no chance of guarding the quick guards of the top teams. The roster reconstruction needed goes beyond one player (e.g. Lebron). Rui and DA are not defensive minded players, whereas Vando is not offensively inclined. Only JL and Smart (depends on which version shows up for the day) are legit two-way players. Only chance for the Lakers to make a championship run is if they miraculously wake up one morning and the players decide they will scrap and fight for every defensive possession, which isn't likely.

  9. 2015->2026 11 years later the same trade can help the lakers win it all

    JR Smith = Trey Murphy
    Herb Jones = Iman Shumpert

Rui, Reaves, Maxi, Dalton, Adou, 1st, & 2 swaps
    For
    Trey & Herb

Pels get the best player in the deal with multiple expiring contracts

Lakers get better fits on long term contracts

  10. It's not Lebron. It's that they have 3 defensive liabilities starting. The team isn't better without Lebron, they are better without 3 defensive liabilities

  11. I have a LBJ problem if I'm allowed to be honest with you.

The man is the quintessential basketball player, not a player, the player…very little load management in seasons lasting on average longer than those of his peers, physically gifted like no one else, but also USING these gifts with an incredible work ethic (unlike Shaq or Bol Bol or Embiid or 'insert name here' ). And at the end of the day, it's not that he's slow in the head either. Stood up at the right moments when things had to be said to the world, kept his mouth shut in other moments when he needed to. No drama off the court, got a family going and seems to be kind of a cool dad.

Hate him or love him, dude's a player with all of his heart and soul. That's why Brooks gets to him, normally you would say 'why does LBJ even listen to a word Brooks is saying, given their difference in status and success?'. That's precisely because he is not checked out on farewell tour and still cares, at least that's the way I see it.

And then he takes the player option for the full amount when 40 years old while talking about chasing rings, completely crippling his team. And for what? So his balance now reads 1.498.956.322,67 $ instead of 1.450.956.322,67 $.

Impressed by the man for most of my life – didn't love him, but could always respect him ( well, except for 2011, but my point stands ). And then here he comes with the 'anti-Dirk' move, making bag as best paid player in the NBA when including off-court income while being the oldest player, while knowing that your team needs a center and more shooting and defense. Oh, did I mention that he always earns more from side activities like sponsorships than he does through his salary? Taking a cut would still lead to him earning a yearly income of over 100 million $.

Still a good player, still exceptionally well built to handle a game of basketball at 41 years of age, but…something broke in me, I do not know what. I was certain he would take a cut for a center, I really was. It seemed to be the most sensible solution and that's what I took him for – sensible.

Oh, just for clarification, I'm choosing not to judge LBJ based on his acted coughing in the 2011 finals. I feel that he was at his lowest point in a mixture of youth, crazy skill and hubris – but a man is more than one situation. For the rest of his career, as mentioned, I could at least always respect what he was doing.

And then came that 50plus million player option which is basically nothing to him, but for the Lakers ultimately is the difference between being the 5th seed or the 2nd seed in the west for the season, and started chiseling away at his throne.

  12. Other than FT percentage, Reeves doesn't do anything better than Bron. Bron is still a better scorer, passer, and rebounder. So why would you opt to switch Bron on this season instead of Reeves?

I would agree it should be Reeves in the future though as Bron is about to retire

  13. Lakers need to tell Lebron, either accept a trade or fake an season ending injury, otherwise we’re gonna force him to ride the bench and ruin his reputation

  14. This guy said get rid of Bron for Draymond Green type? What a garbage take. Bron was 2nd team All NBA last season. He's only played 15 games this season due to injury.
