  1. It is an interesting choice to go to the Astros. I guess Imai is going for a short deal to get his pitching up to MLB-standards and then he is going to go for a bigger market team for a longer deal.

  2. This is a game-changer for Houston in every way imaginable. Now they have Imai going in with Hunter Brown, Mike Burrows, and what hopes to be a comeback for Cristian Javier. You've got a formidable rotation now that could get the Astros back in the upper echelon of the AL. Imai will do well in the majors. Don't be surprised if he pushes 16 to 20 wins this coming season.

  3. I'm assuming this probably means they won't be re-signing Framber, so this isn't really a game changing move for the Astros, they're just replacing Framber with a lesser known, bigger risk. But it's important for the remaining FA market.

  4. Players changed their strategy against him, that’s why his walks went down. He talked about that being one of the big reasons why he wanted to leave. The batters weren’t trying to hit him hard anymore they were just trying to make contact

  5. It is so poetic that the guy who wants to beat Dodgers chose the team who literally beat the modern Dodgers team at WS no matter what it takes. I still think Astros cheated but I am looking forward to the rogue mentality that Imai bringing into the league.

  6. I can't wait to see the Dodgers ruin this loud mouth's MLB career. Maybe on his first pitch Ohtani will obliterate the ball 500 feet into the darkness of the night.

  7. I think he is all talk. If you really want to compete against the Dodgers, sign up in the National League, and if you are really good, sign with the Giants or Padres and prove it, The Astro are not a threat without garbage cans so the only way he will see them is the WS and a couple of reg season games. We shall see…………………Toronto's Cease deal looks even worse now, what an overpay in years and dollars.

  8. Even as a Dodgers fan I respect that he wants to beat the monster team and even more respect he took a likely lesser deal betting on himself with annual opt outs. Let's see if he still wants to go against the Dodgers after playing them though.

  9. I would of liked to see him go to the mariners tbh that would be in my top 5 World Series is Los Angeles Dodgers vs Seattle Mariners

  10. 3 OPT OUTS! With posting fees all up the Astros could be paying 30 million for one year. Looks like this could be a great deal for both parties.

  11. Being a Dodgers fan and hating all the teams i'm about to mention, he could've at least picked the Padres or the Giants: two organizations with more class that aren't complete pieces of $hit.

  12. He has an opt out clause after every year of the contract. My delu take as Blue Jays fan is that he’s waiting for a better market next year (aka Gausman’s contract expires in 2026).

  13. Hopefully this is a better deal than the 2023 Brantley deal or the abreu, Montero, Hader, Walker signings or trading for JV in 23. Yeah the Astros have made a lot of bad moves recently. No wonder they'r emediocre now. Oh I forgot the treade deadline deals from this past season. also terrible.

  14. The Astros scout team have been working him since high school. Just like they do all the South American players. They have so many players from south America under rights contracts its crazy. Then you have Altuve, Pena, Alverz, and others going to their home countries lobbying these kids to sign with Houston. Once again Houston Astros own the players from south of the border.

  15. Houston with one of the worst farm systems in the league somehow continues to produce players to replace a Cole, Correra, Springer, Tucker, and yet still keep on going. Ask yourself how?

  16. Imai is overestimating himself. I think the Astros know he's overestimating himself too.

He'll never surpass Yama. He never managed it in NPB and he won't manage it in the majors either.
