One year extension on a great deal. Probably a bridge deal till they figure out cap space.

  1. under a mil seems a little harsh – surely he’s worth at least 1 AAV? i get it’s a placeholder for his next deal which will be the real payday – this just seems a tad stingy for a guy playing his ass off

  2. Nice reward for someone who’s fit into the top 4 and PP2 rather seamlessly and for someone nobody even knew who he was before the season.

  3. This org’s ability to find undrafted gems and turn them into bonafide roster depth is exemplary in the league. From D’Astous and Gourde to St. Louis, it’s a big part of the legacy of the franchise

  4. Super tidy work by JBB to keep a quality depth defenseman that nobody knew about, D’Astous has come up big for us in a crucial year. He earned every bit of that deal and honestly more.

  5. Roman Josi lite for less than 1 is highway robbery. If Raddysh falls off, put this guy as the number one and see the magic.

  6. I thought he would get more to be honest. That’s a great deal for a guy who is filling big minutes

  7. I feel like this is signaling for Raddysh to go. Both are highly talented offensive defensemen who are overall bottom pair guys but can man a power play.

Given Raddysh having a career year and a right hand shot, some team is going to overpay and give him the bag. I love Raddysh and his game but this year is probably an anomaly.

  8. i just realized that the other 1-year 2-way show me veteran we signed in the off-season that also looked good in pre-season that I was hoping would lead to another deal was Stachowiak – and it’s not looking like we will even see him in the NHL, let alone back for another season – barring a big uptick in his play – unless anyone in syracuse has any more optimistic updates there?

    🙁
