The LA Kings suffer a horrific loss in Darcy Kuemper’s return. An absolute collapse against the Tampa Bay Lightning blowing a late third period lead that I believe will be a tough loss to shake off. That and more on this edition of Locked on LA Kings.

  1. I went to see the Kings in Denver…and it is clear, when you shorten the bench, your players get exhausted, they look ok for 1 and a half periods and then get tanked; last night looked like a complete repeat of the Avs game…it's NOT the players, it's the Coach! Change the coach!

  2. If that 2nd period isn't proof enough of Hiller's inability to make in-game adjustments, I don't know what else would convince you. Hiller won't be fired because that would deny the "win now" BS that Luc and KH have been shoving down our throats.

  3. Quite frankly, the Kings don’t have any top talent. DD and Kopi best days are long gone, Fiala is a hit or miss penalty machine, teams find a way to neutralize Kempe every game, QB and Turcotte are 1st round busts, and…Ceci/Dumoulin. The only bright spots on this roster are Laffy, Foegele, Kuz, Clarke, Anderson and Kuemper.

  4. The best thing is to sell the team to someone that's willing to spend money to win a Stanley Cup I don't mean just Glitz and glitter someone that understands what it takes. Spin the same result and team for the last 10 years this year may change they're not going to make the playoffs maybe that'll send a message. I've been a Kings fan for over 50 years😡

  5. 100% agree! It feels and looks that the kings dont want it enough! There are so many plays that the kings have not pushed themselves to get that puck. As a long time kings fan, I am sorry to say, they dont deserve to get a play off shot at least not with this mentally they have.

  6. Your right about Doughty, being paid millions by the Kings but seems his major concern was making the Canadian team, his best years are behind him, the fact that he still leads are team in minutes?? Time for the Kings to play our youth more!!

  7. I coulda told you from the start of the season, it's Hiller. We HAVE a solid team that can compete with the best in the league. But this feels like Terry Murray mode all over again. Stuck in a system that's going nowhere. We need the coaching that'll take us to the next level like our run in 2011/12 when let's say, a different "philosophy" and push mid season actually gave us positive results. As soon as Murray was dismissed we started to win and y'all know the rest. We're at the precipice with the talent we already have, but with Hiller at helm you might as well write off Kopi's last season.

  8. Turcotte is the same player today as 6 months ago. Clarke is the same player as 6 months ago. The coaching and management need to explain why these players are being held back when they clearly are ready for the NHL?

  9. trying to stay positive and remember the Kings squeaked into the playoffs the first year they won the cup. Some players were terrible going in but they turned it all around and we all know how that ended. At this point, they just have to get into the playoffs and hope for the best

  10. Eddie Sadly I was at the game watching the Kings as usual get in to the same boring defense shell with a lead and I stood up very Frustrated shouting and calling the obvious collapse at the 4 minute mark of the 3rd period and of course it happened and when the kings Pathetic coach Hiller called time out I completely lost it and again stood up and even Louder shouted "this game is not going to overtime Kings are going to lose" and BOOM Tampa scored 🤬 I actually very loud Cheered for Tampa bay when Tampa scored the winning goal!!! Everyone around me was angry and shocked on my loud prediction but totally and completely agreed with the Frustration!!! Hiller and Luc need to GO NOW!!! I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY SEASON TICKETS!!!

  11. I honestly believe there is something really shady that has been going on with this organization recently. All the players that have wanted out, no change at the leadership level… this team is a cultural disaster

  12. Honestly, does anyone think the Kings are one trade away from contending for a championship? This is a classic case for a rebuild. A mediocre roster, aging players, few prospects, few assets, and a coaching staff and front office that’s not competent. It’s rebuild time.

  13. We need to rebuild our rebuild. Trade Doughty and anybody else other than Clarke. Let's get some management that cares about winning and not which buddy of theirs needs their silver stick. Fire Hiller now.

  14. Worst game/disappointed what's the difference. One comes with the other. You seem overly optimistic. As much as I like Luc, hiring Holland, retaining Hiller is in my observation and opinion responsible for what is as bad a team as there is in the league. You're right no killer instinct, can't hold a lead, and always just hang on to win. One point then losing in OT. I want more, and as a lifelong fan, I've earned it.

  15. Honestly, the current situation is on Luc's office and ultimately AEG. Hiller has almost been transparent that he no longer knows what to do and has just been dead man walking the team forward at this point, they ran out of answer long ago and it is evident the players are equally going through the paces. Even worse than Hiller though, Robitaille has been allowed to get away with murder for far too long at a job he has always had zero qualifications for. Every hire/move he or his office has made has been nepotistic and wishful delegation to old buddies. It is sad that, despite being my favorite player and the career that he had here, it is impossible his tenure as president doesn't tarnish and sour his legacy with the organization. The fact that AEG turned a blind eye despite the obvious organizational failures that led to repeat losses to the Oilers and TMac's firing because of jersey sales and finances despite the immediate boot Lombardi & Co. received is damning. This front office has been given way too much leeway with zero accountability.

  16. What a shocker! Kings blow the lead in the 3rd as they always stop skating. Bloach Hiller still can't understand that phenominon. Ampngst all the boneheaded things this franchise has done recently, replacing McLellan with the bloach is the top seed.

  17. Eddie, I'm glad to see you finally joined the line of fans who are beyond miserable. We've lost all confidence in this team. In fact, as much as I love the idea of our having Luc Robitaille with the team, perhaps it's time to "Clean house"…and get rid of everyone. Obviously, my hero is Adrian Kempe, with high hopes for Alex Laferriere. But, on the whole, it appears the talent just isn't there. And, worse than that, the aging stars don't seem to have any idea of how to lead the youngsters into the next generation. I fear the 45-year wait for the Stanley Cup, that was so uplifting, is gonna flow to another 45-year wait for the next celebration.

  18. Trying to say this is on laffy for not scoring on that break away is crazy , when byfield had a equal opportunity and hit nothing but glass , Byfield cant get shots on net to save his life yet alone cut it to drive center lane , Q is a damn joke and its obvious the way he carries himself outside of hockey , more of a comedian than a leader !

  19. Between Hiller…..losing Spence….losing Gavrikov…..Kuempers & Doughtys injury. Losing our Captain this season whom hasn't been putting up numbers sadly. I hope next season goes better 🤞.

  20. Hillers pathetic answer "Two scrambles on our net front and it finds a way to go in Twice" 😂 Are you kidding me!!! I Seriously wonder if the Kings Ownership and the so called Management ever read the Fans comments and actually give a S***t both about the team and the fans or is it just about the Profit$$$!!!!! Also how about the real die hard Kings fans or season ticket holders asking the real questions not the scripted Media!!!!! Fire Luc and Hiller!!!!!

  21. Not a biggest Doughty fan here. Kings have not build anything even close to a contender around Kopitar and Doughty since last cup in 2014. Actually the dumbest thing they did was signing Doughty to the crazy 8 year 11 million dollar contract. Instead of trading him when he still had good value and saving cap space they chose to keep both players without really surrounding them with talent that is needed to win another cup. I think Doughty is passionate about playing hockey and that passion carries over to club play as well as him representing his country. Too bad kings organization isn't capable of building another cup contender for both of our hall of famers to be. Its a shame they wasted almost a decade and did not even get one playoff round victory.

  22. Eddie, the proof is now far beyond a reasonable doubt that Kopitar is failing miserably in his #1 center obligations and captain ship. His play is slow, there is no physicality to his game. He gets the puck and it is always to pass immediately. He can’t even get a breakaway anymore. The Kings are hopeless this year with an old player like him that lost his prior skills and ability to compete up to the required standards. So he has been a drag upon the team and a big contributor to this dismal mediocre season.

Hiller is a lifeless and uninspiring coach. He is far too mellow and can’t even get mad at any player. He coddles them and pampers them. No wonder no other GMs wanted him as a head coach. But he is snake bit because Kopitar can’t play effectively anymore. So, Hiller doesn’t have the guts to place Kopitar into the 2nd or 3rd center role.

Perry who is older is humiliating Kopitar too.

The team doesn’t have the offensive talent and execution and that is proven now ion the ice, except Kempe. They have no top league point scorers except for Kempe who is at the bottom of the top list.

Byfield has proven conclusively now that he isn’t a true offensive threat to the requirements of any team for a 2nd line center. It turns out that the talent in the NHL is too difficult for him. Lately, he is even pushed off pucks, falls down, and can’t get puck possession upon demand. He struggles and his abysmal stats prove all of this. He must be, not maybe, traded ASAP before his value gets worse.

This team has been now ruined for this season because changes needed to be done sooner. Because it wasn’t, the team descended into mediocrity and actually is a boring and fumbling and struggling team that is awful to watch.

Frankly, the Kings aren’t anymore in any elite status.

Eddie, you really need to be far more condemning and critical over the failures. You are holding back too much. You are trying to find silver linings. Nope, you ought to talk harshly about each player’s mistakes, non-production, and failures. Sometimes we all as fans have to be brutal and jeer loudly as to a team that is a failure.

Watching this pitiful team is just bad optics and not worth the headaches.
