[Russini] For the first time, league sources believe the Raiders would be open to moving Maxx Crosby this offseason.

  1. After seeing what Holmes has done hoarding and then spending picks as a good team and what the rams did using free agency and taking some late round gambles also as a good team, I don’t mind betting on this transformative shift.

  2. I know we need another Edge opposite of Hutch, but guys like Crosby, Hendrickson, and Garrett would cost way too much. Even if Holmes doesn’t consider the cap “real”, those are luxury positions.

  3. I think at this point the only thing we have to do as a fanbase with Maxx is hope he doesn’t end up on the bears, Vikings, or Packers. Because I do not believe we will ever get him.

  4. I would be absolutely shocked if we did this. He’s a great player, but we can’t afford him, and have more glaring needs ATM.

  5. We going to start posting every edge player speculation post in here again?

Kmon this doesn’t even have to do with the Lions.

  6. Idk guys we might be able to pool our money and cans together to get him an incentive to at least listen to an offer 🤔🤔

  7. I would rather have Tyler Linderbaum. Much cheaper contact, at a position that is more needed.

In a perfect world, I’d love to have Maxx, but it will NEVER happen.

  8. Lion fans trying to explain about how poor we are is the funniest thing I see in this sub when it comes to acquiring new talent. But then they pop bottles when we sign an overrated safety and Hutch who hasn’t shown he is worth $45 mil a yr

  9. If the price is reasonable, sure. But I wouldn’t expect that price to be circa early 2025 egg prices.

  10. We all know we’re not getting him or any other big name. It sucks and is exactly the reason we’re where we’re at…he will go to the eagles or packers for a practice squad player and a conditional 2nd rounder or some BS

  11. Valenti painted a picture of how Detroit can open a ton of cap. I get it, Valenti isn’t the best source, but it’s worth considering.

He noted Detroit can restructure Goff, Sewell, and St Brown while cutting Monty and have around $100 million in cap all of a sudden (also involved trading Alim but that’s unlikely). Yeah, Gibbs and Campbell need to be paid, but they shouldn’t break the bank based on their positions. Laporta and Branch are both question marks based on their current injuries so the money being saved for them could potentially be open.

This involves Sheila opening her check book, which based on Ford history isn’t likely, and Brad willing to do something he hasn’t been willing to in the past (again, not likely based on his history), but all this “we have no money” crap is funny since teams work out of these situations all the time.

People seem to underestimate how good a great pass rush can make a D. Even our “legion of whom” DBs would be elevated just from Hutch and Maxx wreaking havoc.

I get it – this is mostly a pipe dream, but if Detroit is serious about competing, they should 100% be in the convos for Maxx if he’s truly available.

  12. The made up reality of us having him is better than the actual reality of us not making the playoffs.

I’m glad we are getting Maxxx Crosby

  13. We won’t get him, but if we wanted to, any trade would have to include Alim for cap purposes

  14. I think it’s worth it for a two year window to win a super bowl and Holmes is going to be on a hot seat next year unless he nails this offseason so yeah fuck them picks and build a super D line

What I mean by hot seat, is he’s not drafting well, he’s not making free agent moves, and he ignored obvious needs last offseason. Sheila is patient but if we don’t come back next year Holmes is under a lot of scrutiny

  15. We can open up $90M+ in cap space. We should try. I’d even give up more draft capital if the Raiders take on more money.

  16. Probably a couple 1st round picks and then we’d need to include Alim in the deal to make it remotely possible to afford him.

  17. You have to try and do this now with the uncertainties around Kirby and more so Branch. I’m fine with having Maxx eat up the cap that Branch/La Porta may have.

  18. The Lions can open up over $100M in cap space through restructures.

Maxx just signed a new contract and the Packers set the price – trade 2026 and 2027 firsts and get him.

Hutch and Maxx for the next 3 years.
