Realistically? We don’t. We haven’t had a pass rush since Mathis retired, and we don’t have cap space or a first round pick this year.
I rather address our LBs with Quay Walker or Devin Lloyd. Latu keeps getting better and better. Who knows JT may end up being solid if he gets a chance to dress.
AP is going to cost between $20-$25M per year. I would like to see us keep him. I don’t think we can afford to sign any of these guys.
None of those guys are changing the game for us. Half will get overpaid and under deliver elsewhere.
Fire Ballard and draft better on the DL. Seems pretty straightforward, it’s just not a guarantee at either level.

get a gm that can draft good edge rushers. paye and ebukam aren’t fitting the bill.
With the amount of draft picks spent on pass rush why is this still a problem ?

If Chris Ballard is still the GM, then we’ll draft a high-upside edge with a huge RAS score, who has almost no college production and a lengthy injury history.
Best available edge in the 2nd round (it’s a deep class imo). Then LB 3rd or 4th.

Let Paye and Ebukam walk. Paye has been terrible and Ebukam is not the same after the achilles. Try to sign a washed free agent like Mack or Reddick on a prove it deal, try to develop Latu and JTT as much as possible and maybe go for a depth piece in the draft.
Heard a story that our dline coach was leaving for ND. Not sure how long he has been here but a coach change can only be a good thing imo.
Sign Mack and have him mentor the young guys. Latu hitting that next level will go a long way towards not having to blitz for a pass rush
I think having a healthy secondary would allow our pass rush to get home. I think Latu can turn into a real #1 pass rusher. Through most of the season we were top 10 in pressures and sacks.
Having LBs that can cover better would be great but Lou needs LBs in run stopping.
Do not pay Daniel Jones, roll with Riley Leonard or another 1st / 2nd year guy with reasonable skill set that’ll be just fine in Steichen’s scheme.
If the team spends big FA money I want it on a younger player that can do it all….LB / Edge, like Jaelen Phillips.
Otherwise, add additional 2nd and 3rd round picks by trading JT and Josh Downs. With two 2nds and two 3rds Colts should be able to get plenty of needed help.
Free agent pass rushers are worth their weight in diamonds. The right way is to draft them, but Ballard has struck out on so many, and the Colts need them now.
