I really wanted the Mets to sign this guy so he could take Pete’s spot. I don’t like the idea of Polanco playing a position he played one inning at. I get that 1st base is the easiest infield position, and he should be able to handle it, but why risk it? Also, who’s playing first if Polanco (who will be 33 in July) get’s injured?

He isn’t a great fit here. The boom/ bust potential is far too high with the bat, and the defense has an incredibly low floor.

They are in re-build mode for 2026, I just hope some of the young guys are fun to watch at least
