Pretty good deal.

  1. Okamoto is a freakin’ demon of a player who has insane hitting abilities. As long as he’s healthy, gtting him for 15M per year is a fucking steal.

  2. Did they have to pay a transfer tax (or whatever it is called) to his JPN team?

  3. Cheaper than signing Bo and Tucker…saves us money for the Okamoto + Bo or Tucker combo. If Ross can pull it off, I will be beyond amazed. Beefed up an already loaded roster.

  4. For those wondering, he’s turning 30 next year, so we’ll have him from 29-34. Not bad at all.

  5. Most likely outcome with this deal is we re-sign Bichette at a roughly 175-190M x 7-8 years.

We are probably out on Tucker unless we make an OF trade.

    I think we re-sign Bichette

  6. With how round the numbers are in all deals by jays so far it truly seems that they set a value and if they match with players expectations great; deal is done quick (Cease, Ponce)

If player wants to see if they can get more they will wait (Okamoto last days of posting)

So that likely means they had their offers to Bo and Tucker and its up to them to sign. Both were likely hoping for more.

I always thought jays may have offered Tucker like a 10 year/325-340 (his agent wants 400)

  7. It’s interesting that Okamoto got roughly what was expected but the other two Japanese stars got much less than expected.
