This is why I am excited that Story opted in. It took him a while to lock in, he’d spent so much of his Red Sox tenure injured, but something clicked on June 7 onward and he raked. 2026 Story should be exciting.

  1. Still spent too much of his Sox tenure injured to be fully optimistic he can repeat 2025 which is why they should move him to 2nd and have Mayer at short

  2. It’s difficult to remember a recent champion without that hobbled, wildly streaky 31-year-old zero-range Roger Dorn type.

  3. Used to live in Colorado when he was there and he was a beast. I’m a Jays fan first but I’m rooting for his success to continue for the Sox.

  4. He’ll have a 95 OPS+ and be worth -10 runs on defense for like a 2 WAR season and it will be fine. And maybe they’ll get real that he’s not a shortstop anymore for his final season on the team. Or the bottom will fall out and he’ll look like his early season self. That’s entirely possible.

  5. I’m fine with him batting 7th or lower but what hasn’t clicked is his inability to lay off the 0-2 breaking ball 3 feet off the plate. Simple plate discipline could make him a monster
