I’m ignoring Gleyber Torres for the sake of the meme and that was a qualifying offer anyway

  1. “We’re really looking forward to Torkelson taking a big step forward this year.”

  2. We must’ve missed out on all those other teams already signing those free agents….right?

  3. Free agents bats would hamper what we can do next few years, I don’t want Bregman or Bichette.Was hoping we could trade some minor league depth for a guy. I’m really enjoying Tigers being a playoff team. Let’s run it back for a few years and hit the right move

  4. I remember when AJ said they couldn’t just be naive enough to run it back in 2026. Can’t believe I was naive enough to buy it.

  5. “A problem.”

    A problem that was somehow good enough to get to the playoffs and go toe to toe with a really good Seattle Mariners team the whole five games and then some. You guys act like the Tigers were the Winnipeg Jets, the narrative has gotten completely out of touch with reality.

    Do I want them to get a star level offensive player? Yeah! But I also think the front office should follow their vision. They’re paid the big bucks to bring their brains and experience to shape this organization, not to make decisions based on fan polling. One rough stretch (that wasn’t ultimately *that* rough; they made the playoffs and didn’t embarrass themselves there.) in the otherwise steady improvement we’ve seen under Scott’s tenure and people are acting his ideas are totally discredited and it’s an outrage that he won’t follow the One True Path to the World Series. Sure he has to revisit his priors after the Tigers 2nd half slump, but stop acting like the 2025 team or Scott’s tenure has been this colossal failure.

  6. Bats:

    * 12th in wRC+
    * 17th in wRC+ after trade deadline

    Pitching:

    * 9th in xERA
    * 20th in xERA after trade deadline (24th if we take out Skubal)
    * ZIPS projection of 0 WAR from Tiger pitching rookies in 2026.

    Yeah totally why sign any pitchers when the staff is ranked 20th, its second best reliever became a free agent, its second best starter is challenging Parker Meadows on who can play less, and there’s zero help on the horizon.

  7. Isn’t the reason we lost that last game cause we straight up ran out of our best pitchers and sent in a guy that only does changeups? So between that and possibly losing Skubal after this year I see why building up the pitching bench is a thing. Would probably be better to get hitters though. Most games aren’t 15 innings and doesn’t make a lot of sense to futureproof right now when we can optimize our chances for the upcoming season,
