Hey Alex! I just got your book for Christmas and have really enjoyed reading it. Nice book man 👍
When talking about Zaidi’s impact on the team, he did long term damage to the franchise… let’s hope it can be repaired in less than 5 years. People slammed Bobby Evans, but in the longer term, he was slightly positive. It’s also possible some of the positives of the Zaidi era are actually due to Scott Harris & Pete Putila.
I also think we can’t factor pure player quality for this slow off season. I think a potential work stoppage is a huge looming factor that none of the front offices will admit to, becuz that will put them in the owners’ doghouses.
I think there's so much "hindsight is 20/20" going on with Meckler.
He was hitting like .380 in the minors, he was rapidly ascending and was 23 years old in AAA. The Giants were fighting to try and make the playoffs after the trade deadline and he seemed like such a natural call-up. All articles at the time were positive – I can't find a single person saying "idk I think he should stay in AAA so we get another year of control."
Well, turns out his skills didn't really translate well to the MLB, and ever since then his numbers have declined in AAA as well, to the point that he's 26 and still in the minors. It was completely reasonable to call him up with what was going on at the time – go back and read what people said.
I love how Austin Butler's character sings "Bye Bye Baby" in the bar. My favorite part probably.
Appreciate Alex's candor. Kuiper still unrealistically optimistic.
We gave up Canario for Bryant and the Mets gave up PCA for Baez. 😂 maybe Farhan wasn’t that bad lol
This rotation sucks guys, okay lets be honest, and the giants lineup is probably average and their bullpen sucks too, this is a recipe for failure
Look call me insane but buster posey has no plan, no direction, and no clue on how to do his job this offseason. I was a big fan of the player buster but of the pobo buster nope. It's so confusing that you trade for devers and then decide to do nothing this offseason when you were 500 last year. I know ownership is to blame as well but if the giants suck once again next year (which unless they surprise us this offseason, they probably will) they need to fire buster posey and zack minisian.
Giant prospect you go to Pittsburgh and become pretty good pros so I’m sure Marco will be fine
Pavs is an insider ..? Not one thing of insider information of what to expected, what is next… nothing. Whats the point? Not even a …they want mantle to be the 3 guy
I personally as a fan don’t care where a player grew up . The Giants are excellent at marketing and mediocre at fielding baseball teams.
Caring about guys being from the Bay Area is how you end up with a lazy one trick pony like Joc Pederson. Also Cole is a nepo nerd
Don't think I'll be in the stands again. I still find it hard to believe they're not giving Vitello much of a chance.
Unfortunately Arson Judge didn’t feel the same about staying local. He isn’t from the Bay Area, but close enough. Oh well.
5:19 I guess that's my major disappointment with the last few years, that more guys would've made the jump the way the main guys we all know did in the late 2000s. The front office reasoning was always that the lost 2020 minor league season stalled progress for guys but at some point that excuse can't be used because it's been a few drafts since. Almost at the point where idc if they punt 2026 if the majority of the resources went to building the farms.
Also, willytics (I think that's the YT channel) did a great video explaining the recent bwar return based on team drafts, and the G's were runaway last. So yeah they gotta nail their upcoming draft and get that part of the org rock solid.
