The Pirates should absolutely call the Astros about Issac Paredes. Very affordable and is probably a realistic player the Astros would trade..

If they fail to sign Suarez.

Can’t believe how reasonable this is actually
If people were worried about Suarez’ power in PNC, they’re gonna be apoplectic about Paredes lmao
He would have only hit 11 HR at PNC Park
i’m not saying that the pirates shouldnt trade for him, but Paredes seems like a perfect hitter for Houston’s ballpark. he seems like a bad fit for PNC Park.
his whole entire shtick is “my stats are as high as they are because my swing is optimized for pulling balls barely over the LF fence.” PNC’s LF fence is awfully deep except for the bit at the foul pole.
it just seems like a guy that Houston has every reason to keep.
maybe the astros would deal him. and hed certainly improve the pirates even with the less than stellar ballpark fit. but there are enough forces working here that i just dont think Paredes moving, esp to the pirates, is especially likely.
maybe there are more “the astros want to deal Paredes” rumors than i’m realizing
This guy is literally a porch merchant
When I first saw Mike Burrows was involved in the Lowe trade I hoped we were adding to him to swing for Paredes at the same time
Air-pull righty without plus raw? Pass. I mean, he’s better than what they have but trading would use resources that would be better utilized elsewhere
See I like this attitude. This is a pretty good idea, how have the guys who get paid to do this not come up with an idea like this
Stop with your reasonableness
I will give you this you somehow still care not sure how you do it but you still care.
Absolutely no way. Paredes is a pull-heavy hitter who would have his HR totals absolutely crumble in PNC Park. He’s pretty much the absolute last player I’d want to trade for.
It’s not necessarily a dig on him as a player, but PNC Park would be absolutely horrid for him. Would be a huge mistake.
They definitely should INSTEAD of signing Suarez. There’s almost no downside to Paredes other than what it might cost to get him.
He’s a better hitter, younger, cheaper and under control for 3 (4?) more years.
No, just no. He’s dead pull. Whether it’s HRs or singles, it’s all to the left side. Give me Suarez, at least with him he’s a gap hitter over a dead pull. The only focus of this management team should be the next 2 years and making as many moves as possible to get not only to the playoffs but deep into them.
Very good idea and frankly I would put more time and effort into getting this guy than Suarez. Relatively young guy and all around good hitter as opposed to an aging slugger is not going to get better it will cost too much. Don’t get me wrong I was all in on okamoto but that didn’t work out so I’d rather build the lineup out. I just have some qualms about Suarez but maybe I am overthinking it I get that.
Are the Astros looking to trade him? I haven’t seen that
