POWER SHIFT: Milwaukee Brewers Make STUNNING Coaching Overhaul Under Pat Murphy – Analysis & REACT

Milwaukee Brewers overhaul coaching staff as Pat Murphy flexes his managerial power—how will these sweeping changes shape 2026?

Daniel Vogelbach’s surprising arrival as hitting coach and Jason Lane’s new role as offensive and strategy coordinator signal a bold shift in clubhouse dynamics. With bench coach Rickie Weeks out, the Brewers hand Murphy full control after back-to-back Manager of the Year accolades, raising questions about contract extensions and the team’s strategic direction.

Chuck Freimund breaks down the rationale behind post-holiday coaching moves, the potential impact on the lineup, and why Freddy Peralta is attracting trade buzz from heavy hitters like the Dodgers, Braves, Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox. Plus, updates on Brewers prospects in Venezuela and what these moves mean for Milwaukee’s postseason aspirations.

Can the Brewers improve on their 97-win campaign, or did their dramatic postseason slump force necessary change?

  1. I like the hitting coach moves. 1. Gillermo Martinez was instrumental last year in helping some of the top prospects of the Cubs excel at hitting. This helped the knoxville smokies achieve the championship, something that hasn't been done for years. I think this aquisition will help communicate with the spanish speaking culture on the Brewers. Connor Dawson wasn't dumped. He was given the lead hitting coach position in KC. That switch works well all the way around. Eric Theisen goes from one of 3 hitting coaches to the lead hitting coach for the Brewers. Al LeBoeuf stays in the organization but gets moved to scouting talent(Not sure if it's a pay cut or not.) But, LeBoeuf fought and won against cancer last year, so kudos to him. Daniel Vogelbach has some experience with the BlueJays who hit pretty well last year. Also, Guillermo Martinez was the hitting coach for the Bluejays through the 2024 season. So, more success is coming to Milwaukee. Good moves by the Brewers (Murphy).

These changes tell me Pat Murphy is hungry for more! That's a good thing.

  2. Is there any place we can make Brewer bets this year other than driving to the Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee? FanDuel is constantly advertised on here, but how does that work in Wisconsin?

  3. Man I know its part of the business that is ⚾️……but just let Peralta finish it out like man why trade just finish out the contracts and such and then maybe he retires a Brewer 🤷‍♂️…..o well regardless of what happens Go Brewers 💙💛💙💛💙⚾️

  4. I've been thinking for some time now that Freddie will end up with his buddy, Willy Adames. Not sure if SF has let go of Devers to free up some cash, but they have been on a shopping spree lately…Good podcast today Chuck.

  5. Chuck – the position they gave Rickie is very similar to the position they gave CC before he was named manager. They might not be breaking the bank for Murph. How, as the Locked on Brewers guy, do to in not bring this up?!
