  1. Team is back on top of the division, and tied for 6th in regulation wins. The team doesn’t actually blow 3rd period leads, or even outright lose, as often as some here would make you think.

  2. * Beat a division rival when you’re not at your best

    * Appeared to be aware that there is, in fact, a 1st period in hockey games (aside: though we still don’t look great and I’m feeling more strongly it’s as much systematic as it is mental, but that’s another conversation)

    * Get some depth scoring from puck pressure and forced mistakes

    * Overcome gaps/mistakes on your own end that cost you

    * Get solid goaltending to keep the team steady

    * Actually benefit from a review

    * Hopefully get some swagger back in Razor’s game

    * Nullified a very strong PP in their house

    * Mickey’s not got time for this shit c’mon drop the puck already, guys, geeze.

Honestly we didn’t look that great and I’d be exceptionally surprised if any of the line shake ups last for more than a game or two, but we won and largely appeared to give a shit, which was probably what we needed most after those Pittsasters.

  3. Ottawa has a lot more problems than goaltending. Idk how you blame the goalie when almost every goal is a breakaway, odd man rush, or a powerplay goal where guys are left wide open. Their offensive pressure is insane and scares the hell out of me, but that team has no discipline and 0 defensive awareness. Not saying the goaltending is great, but it wasnt the glaring issue based on last night.

That being said, we still arent going to win many games getting outshot 40-20. The guys did well to force those odd man chances and make them count and they also did well collapsing on gibson in our own end, but we desperately need to be better at breaking pucks out of our own end.

All in all, it was a good win, especially against a division team that would have been that much closer to us if we had lost.

  4. John Gibson. He is him as it turns out. I honestly wouldn’t mind Todd tinkering with the line macha little more, Kasper looked good to me and I think if you leave him with Larks it’s only a matter of time. He’ll get the monkey off his back. I also wouldn’t mind swapping Kane for Kasper, Kane plays insanely well with Larks too and gives some great options.

  5. I knew about Buffalo’s streak but Tampa is also on a wild streak. 7 in a row.

These fuckers in our division need to pump the breaks

  6. Somehow, this team is first in the conference. Need to improve on the piss poor play the past few games but beating the sens while objectively being the worse team does feel kinda good.

  7. Tampa plays the Aves tonight, so obviously they are gonna lose their 4th regulation game because why would they not?

  8. JVR at one mil for a season has been a steal, hard to believe a deal doesn’t get worked out

  9. Did anyone see Todds postgame presser yesterday? I forgot to check it out on my drive to work and now im in the office 😔

  10. Plus sides: this team has enough offensive firepower to score on not a lot of shots. They’re getting good goaltending. And most importantly didn’t give Ottawa a point.

Minus sides: d coverage has been brutal, d not retrieving pucks and taking advantage of breakouts which forces offense to just hound pucks and chip out for line change and the cycle begins again… Larkin has to be better on the defensive side of the puck 5v5 not just a pp merchant.

  11. It is amusing that the coach and players have such different views.

The players seem to have the mindset of a win is a win

The coach would like things to be cleaner despite winning.

  12. There were some strange penalties last night. Honestly Ottawa as a team dives SO MUCH. Stutzle is obvious, but there was complaining about an ASP interference that was an embellishment for sure. At the same time, Larkin looked like he dove a little bit on that Giroux penalty so it goes both ways lol

Larkin honestly is playing like shit. I watched the Awood recap and he’s just gliding it seems, not playing very smart in the defensive and neutral zones at all right now.

I like the line juggling, hopefully the next couple days we can get back to basics on our defense/forechecking responsibilities. Nice to see the puck go in the net 5 times though

  13. With about 5 minutes left in the game last night, the arena DJ played “Don’t Stop Believin’” and I knew everything was gonna be alright. Sleeper agent DJ
