[Nightengale] The Reds were willing to offer Kyle Schwarber more money than the Phillies until Schwarber told them “it wasn’t necessary.”

  1. So he never wanted to come to Cincy, just used them for leverage. Yay local hero….

  2. Something tells me that hey knew he wasn’t gonna move out of Philly so getting the headline of paying him gets out there and they look good. Ugh, my cynicism.

  3. I wonder if Schwarber being local and knowing all about how poorly run the Reds are had anything to do with it….

    Can you really blame him?

  4. Y’all still think all it takes is money to attract talent?

No elite free agent in any sport wants to play in or for Cincinnati.

  5. I mean, anyone that paid attention prior to and during his free agency knew that he wanted to go to Philly. As long as Philly didn’t lowball him, it was a done deal. But bloggers and posters wanted this to confirm their worldview that the Reds wouldn’t offer a fair contract, so the idea that the Reds lowballed was pushed.

  6. It’s Boob, are we really going to buy that Krall would have offered more money?

  7. this isn’t how the story originally came out, right?

y’all follow this closer than me, but I remember something like 130 million + some potential bonuses.

I think if they just offered the 150m with no fuckery, we would have an All Star right now.

  8. How shit are you viewed by players if you, the hometown team for said player offers him more money and he says no
