According to ESPN NBA insider Tim MacMahon, Anthony Davis wants to stay in Dallas and sign a long-term contract extension. Mavericks trade rumors on Davis have surfaced since the Mavs fired Nico Harrison, but NBA super agent Rich Paul is determined to get the Davis contract extension done whether it’s with the Mavs or another team. While Davis could stay on the Mavs past the 2026 NBA trade deadline, it’s possible that the Mavs revisit an Anthony Davis trade in the 2026 NBA offseason.

AD’s preference would be to stay in Dallas and to get that extension this summer…the Mavericks are trying to generate a good trade market for Anthony Davis. That is difficult because of the durability issues, and I think more so the dollars. In a situation like this Rich Paul is going to be involved. They are going to want AD traded somewhere that is willing to give him a long lucrative extension.

  13. AD doesn't deserve an extension. This was bad from jump street. Probably just need to let him play out because paying him is NOT an option and won't get anything for him in trade. Look what the Spurs have done the last 5 years. MAKE A STACKED YOUNG SQUAD. Let Cooper develop into more of a beast than he is, build in the draft and make a few role player trades in between.

  14. Everyone still looks at what AD WAS and not was he IS. NBA is a WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY LEAGUE.

    AD stagnates our offense with his horrible iso fadeaway 18 foot jumpers and doesn't rim roll at all. Even when he is the center he plays out of position on the wings and if you go back and look at those games teams just EAT in the paint. It's just frustrating. The best ability is availability! And when your rookie has played more games than he has IM DONE

  15. I need to see more from Anthony Davis than five to six games on and five to six games off. Make no mistake, with AD on the floor this Mavericks team looks great, but the problem is like I said, he's only on the floor for five to six maybe eight games if we're lucky at best. I would love to see him, Flagg, and Kyrie together because at best they would keep the Mavericks competitive until you can find a trade partner

    Sadly AD is closer to vet minimum status than extension at this point in his career, so yeah its a hard wait on this one, put a fair offer on the table (maybe something like 2 years) and if that's not good enough, it needs to be a parting of the ways

  16. I'd say sign him to the extension he is worth. But by law you at least have to pay him minimum wage!
    Just kidding. Im not against an extension when his current contract is up, but it has do be cap friendly, and he needs to prove he can play more than 20 game a season

  17. Not just a no but HECK no! Plz don’t do Cuban or Dumont. No one is willing to pay him the Max so he wants to stay here to try and get one. AD is not worth anywhere near a max contract because he gets more breaks than a Kit Kat because of his injuries. Maybe a mid level but not a max. I still say trade him. Plz be smart with this one. From day one this has been a bad trade. Trade AD. He can’t be trusted.
