  1. He’a my favorite player on defense so i’m biased, but i don’t think it’s a coincidence the defense has played its best ball of the season when he’s out there. He is a difference maker and right now we need all the help we can get

  2. Getting Kyler back for the playoffs alleviates so much (if he’s playing near what he’s capable of)

  3. I’ve always maintained that our defensive secondary of Johnson/Stevenson/Gordon/Byard/Brisker is by far the most effective. Hopefully the CJGJ and Wright experiments are over and those 5 guys can stay healthy and give us the best chance to win.

  4. I didn’t even know Braxton was injured. I just figured he got dumped to 3rd string

  5. This is great news. We can’t have CJ out there in nickel getting burned by Watson again.

  6. I hope Braxton jones has been mainlining ozempic And will make a monstrous debut at CB

Kyler Gordon back for the playoffs… this is what I’ve been waiting for.

Totally different D when he’s out there. Slot DB in the 4-2-5 is the center piece of the D. He makes everyone else look better. Gets in QB’s heads with blitz disguises, fake outs, and he doesn’t let elusive QB’s (Purdy, Willis) or RB’s (CMC, Barkley) dance on him. Too fast.

IMO our team with him playing is a top 15 D. Without him: bottom 10.

  8. Excellent news, but I really wonder if he’ll be able to play considering he hasnt done anything in a month.

Kinda wish this game was on Monday for his & Rome’s sake.

  9. I never expected to see Braxton in a Bears uniform again. I still don’t, but I still don’t expect it a little bit less.

  10. Kmet looking good and Kyler on best track possible. Good start to week, no notes.

  11. Always great to see anyone come back from injury. Very optimistic but I think a lot of people here are conflating opening the practice window with returning to play. I think it’s optimistic to hope he’s back next week if the Bears win this week but I’d wager that’s when Gordon is aiming to make his comeback. No help coming on that side of the ball this week, but will be nice to have Rome back

  12. For the guys that have been on IR this year, did any of them play the next game after the 21 day window was opened? Not counting the bye week if the window was opened that week. I honestly don’t remember sorry.

  13. Hopefully Kyler has been getting in shape on the side and is ready for Saturday. If not, the practice window my not matter. For Braxton, good depth piece in case Ozzy is still hurt or struggling. But really, it’s everything going into this game. You don’t play for health in this game. If we lose you have 9 months to recover

  14. Would obviously love Kyler back, we really need him, but not going to expect too much after seeing JJ return.

  15. idc if Kyler isn’t 100%. This is the most important game. If he gets hurt again idc. He can rest all offseason. He has to play. Paying him all that money to sit ain’t it.

  16. For all the crapping on the training staff with the Kyler and Rome pregame injuries, if Kyler is able to make it back, it’s beyond fortunate that we would have a home playoff game with 21 of our 22 starters available, other than Dayo.

In terms of the last Packers matchup, Bears would be getting Rome and Kyler back, while the Packers would be getting Zach Tom and Evan Williams back, while obviously losing Love during the game. Lukas Van Ness missed the first game but played the second one as did Tyrique and DomRob.

  17. This is GREAT news even if he’s not 100%. Anything to shake up the secondary from the last few weeks.

  18. I have very different feelings between the prospects of either of these two players playing on Saturday.

  19. Ben saw one more game of Theo’s pass protection and went back to Braxton😭

  20. It would be good to get them back in the lineup, but I’m pragmatic enough to believe he won’t be his normal self. Probably will be on a snap count to see how he holds up.

I do think, taking a bigger look at the picture here, it cannot be understated that the majority of the defense is still Eberflus’s. Ben got his office ready to go, but Alan has had to contend with square pegging and round holing players to fit a new scheme and add to that, having much of his CBs out of action all year.

The hope is with a full draft and free agency cycle, where the defense is going to get the attention, this will be a much better looking unit next year
