I'm curious if the Jays would also entertain Tucker for the short term to remain competitive in that market. Or if it even makes sense.
They've appeared to have solidified third and their actions have me thinking that they intend to trade Barger if they get Tucker – but they want to know Tucker will be here for at least 5 years.
If Tucker is here for a year and opts out, we face losing Him, Varsho and Springer .
Trading Barger in this scenario would present challenges next off season.
If Tucker is here long term, Barger becomes that player who could potentially shake a very good player from another teams roster.
Lukes, Loperfido , Schnieder ,Santander, Berrios, Little, none of these guys we desire to be moved instead will get us anything close we to what we want. That's the only reason Barger glows for me here.
That and because Barger's 1.2 WAR last year was quite low in comparison to the perception of his play via highlights and in our emotions.
Our lowest WAR at any position was HIGHER than what he produced. Mathimatically, he didnt help. (I'm no fool, I saw what he did . He helped)
Personally, I don't see a significant WAR jump, even if he hits 30HR.
And I think they think the same.
they're chasing wins, not collecting favorites.
Why spend all this (to replace his ABs) and not sell his hot streak?
we dont want to overpay so wating is the best option i think, i think the tucker and bo markets are slowly dropping than wht they both expected and it seems all other teams are also expecting their value to keep lowering (eventualy we will have to overpay for either of them but not by much if they play it right)
because he really isn’t 😂
Fellas,it’s coming up on one month before spring training….not two. This is getting wild.
Our ideal outcome: We sign Bichette. We sign Tucker. We trade away Santander for a L-H reliever (JoJo Romero). We trade away our best assets (Berríos, Lukes, Loperfido, Tiedeman, Nimmala) for Mason Miller.
I think they should trade Santander to make room for Tucker but also use the savings to go after Bichette. Wow what a lineup that would be. If they want to stay competitive the best way to do that is have your core signed to long term contracts. Also they have a lot of money coming off the books next year so bite the bullet for one year and go for it
The Jays have a set number in mind when it comes to how much they are willing to give to Bo and Tucker.
All the signings they have made up to now, especially the last one, is putting pressure on the players, essentially putting the ball in their court to choose the Jays or not.
The Jays FO has been the one behind the steering wheel this whole free agency.
Fois Gras is fattened Duck Liver
With all this waiting we gonna lose Bo
GO JAYS GO!! Atkins gets Tucker A +++++ off-season 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
8 year $300?
If you had other fatigue maybe the country would survive..
Hey guys this just me but I don't understand the fact that we could have bo back something like 10 years 250 mill the guy we love and fits like a glove y would we pay tucker 60 to 100 mill more and give up a draft pick as well y would management do that really lets go bo
Kinda miss the Bell, MOseby, Barfield bobble head even if one of the heads was missing. While the women loved Tulo, he really wasn't an "all in " blue jay imo. Beer is good food
Tucker is not gonna be a jay come on bo is looking at free steaks come on
No body is going to pay Anthony 90 mill please stop lol
It is clear that the Blue Jays are NOT Tucker's first choice. I say we should move on and secure Bo who I believe is a better overall hitter.
Your comparing tucker to Santander your nuts 44 Homer's tucker maybe 20 on a good year please stop this your head is not on straight
BNS also works for Rogers, so I feel he’s always tip-toeing around giving any detail of Rogers potentially signing a big free agent
Bichette’s injury must be scaring teams from a long term deal. He might not even want to slide into a catcher again to avoid re-injuring it.
Jays are being used for leverage. It’s pretty obvious
Favorite???? One word to these two…OTANI…
Longer it goes the less they get for $. Tucker will not be getting $400 mill. Closer to $300. Bo probably around $200
Whoever thinks Barger Gunna get traded is crazy . He had his first full year and did awesome . He also started to rake in playoffs , especially dodgers series when it mattered most. He’s not even in his prime.
Here’s what likely is going to happen. Bregman resigns with Boston. Bellinger resigns with Yankees . Jays get 1 of tucker or Bo ( I hope bo, but since adding okomoto it’s likely going to be tucker .)
I wish I had that Expos Vlad booblehead
This is the most excited I've been about a Non-Blue Jay turned Dodger since Yamamoto…no no…Ohtani!
Tucker would want to play with a winner and that’s not the Mets and Jays gives him the best chance to win-now 🤞
What does Bunkis know…seriously?
Tucker isn't THAT needed by the Blue Jays. Yeah he would be an improvement over Lucas but not 20 million better. Jays should save their cap either for summer additions or next year.
You guys are like little kids at the autoshow trying to talk their dad into buying a Ferrari when they already have a new Lexus in the garage. The Jays don't need Tucker (he would be a nice luxury to have), but they do need Bichette's leadership in the clubhouse (a proven commodity) as well as his hitting prowess.
If the Jays sign Tucker, I would think about trading Varsho and Lukes. I’m not huge on Santander playing the field, but him in left, Tucker in center and Barger in right sounds like it could work. You really want Barger’s power in the lineup. Varsho honestly sucks at hitting. His defense is top-tier, but he sucks at batting. He’s too streaky and inconsistent.
If they sign Bo, they would have to sit Gimenez. I can’t imagine choosing Gimenez over Clement to start games. I don’t care how good Andres is in the field, Ernie’s bat is way more important. Okamoto at 3rd, Ernie & Bo would fill the middle infield and Vladdy at 1st. Having Varsho and Gimenez be black holes in the lineup has to end. Gimenez may be the worst batter in the AL.
I'm guessing the Jays front office/ownership does not want to pay him more than 30 million a season, as Vlad makes 35 mil/they can't pay him more than their franchise player.. guessing they're offering him a deal around 8 years 250 mil or 10 years 300 mil and he is waiting to see if he can get 3-400 mil or 3-4 years at a higher AAV
According to Keegan Matheson, no news is good news for Blue Jays moves.
Bo is way better.
10 years, $378 million plus a $40 million signing bonus. He's not a vlad but he has a lot of durability and longevity. Good hustle and all around great head on his shoulders. I have always been a supporter of him.
Don't want to "THAT" guy but if both parties have zero interest in each other then it's still just as interested as the other party
Rogers Communications is a multi, multi, multi, multi BILLION DOLLAR company. Money is no object for them if they want to win. They could buy all the players in baseball if they wanted to easily. The only question is whether they want to dip into the vault and spend some extra money on Tucker and/or Bichette.
GO JAYS GO WHAT A GREAT LAST SEASON!
Not wasting my time watching even one second of this video.
These youtube sites that focus on the Blue Jays have all turned into gossip sites like small town gossips who constantly run on about who was seen with whom and claim to know who is going to hook up with whom.
Escargots for me please 😋
Bo ant coming back
I can tell you EXACTLY why he hasnt signed a contract yet, and it makes so much sense not to be true with all weve heard. im just piecing everything together.
Tucker WANTS to play for the Dodgers. Flat out. The only reason he hasnt signed yet is because the dodgers are not offering him the stability he wants as far as years. Tucker has had injury issues the past couple seasons so at his age the priority for him is long term stability.
The Blue jays Have offered him the best offer. The reason he hasnt taken it is hes hoping the dodgers will decide to give him the long term 36-40M per season contract over the next 8-10 seasons hes being offered by the Jays .
The Dodgers want to give him a short 2-3 year deal with opt outs high AAV in the first year. Not much money on the backend. basically forcing him to opt out after a season or two to get proper money.
He doesnt want that he wants the stability. So it will come down to will the dodgers budge , or will he budge and hope he doesnt get injured this season and has an amazing season and cash in next offseason.
Or does he take the long term security with the jays… essentially tucker has pulled an Ohtani usin the bue jays as leverage. however the DOdgers have said well look you aint ohtani… So take it or leave it
The more he waits is concerning to me if the jays do sign him. It almost tells me that Tucker himself doesnt know if he can stay healthy for a fullseason. Making me wonder if its worth signing a player who isnt confident they can stay healthy. Because if he was healthy he would have no proble betting on himself for one more season. Get that batting average up around .290 and then REALLy cash in next offseason when he opts out.
why Tucker over Bichette?
I truly believe both Bo and Tucker will sign with toronto..which will give them a surplus to use in trade to get the high leverage arm..say Mason Miller from San Diego to finish off an already great off season…the trade..probably looks like Berrios, Loperfido, Nimmala, Little and maybe another prospect..which would then give San Diego the depth it needs to compete..especially after losing so many pieces already…this trade also would pave the way for Toronto to bring back Bassitt..to compete for the 5th starters role with Ponce and Lauer or as a high leverage arm in the pen like he was in the playoffs..ernie Clement becomes super utility piece and platoons with Jimenez and or allows Bo to sometimes play short with Clement at second because of how bad Jimenez is against lefties…Straw is for speed off bench and Defence prowess..Santander and Barger platoon in outfield..Because Toronto loves the versatility aspect of each player either already on team or pending acquisitions…Im also hoping that Toronto takes a flyer on Jonah Heim who was non tendered by Texas on a cheap 1 year deal to upgrade back up catcher…this will go down as best off season ever and would give the Jays the best chance of beating the Dodgers thoroughly..through and through
My guess is Jays do something nobody sees coming to round out squad.
Tucker is better than Bo. Now makes more sense than Bo with that last signing. But I still want Bo. Bo part of the core. Been here a decade (organization) I like homegrown talent staying with the team n earning it. They were an out away from winning It last year. Why throw that away. To me, winning without Bo, although still special, isnt the same. Just my opinion
Forget about this guy
Why not take a serious look at Bellinger instead of Tucker? Bellinger has somewhat better stats and is likely going to cost the jays much less and for a shorter contract period. As well, that would keep him away from the Yankees. 6:49
