Guess it’s because he didn’t play third everyday. Think he started only 69 games there. Not sure why this would confuse Hinch

Hinch talking to us like we are idiots. McKinstry is very solid utility player and i like him a lot, but 3B is an obvious place to upgrade and I think it’s a stretch to consider McKinstry an above average everyday 3B. All-star appearance or not

How’d that work out in the postseason, Hinch/Scott Harris? Hearing that we don’t need to improve offensive production from our 3B makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills. He batted .172 in this year’s playoffs.
What did he do after the ASB? Oh right – he sucked.
I’m fine with Hinch defending his players. I’m not fine with the org running it back.

Mckinstry is a utility player and should be treated as a utility player and be put where ever he is needed that makes sense
I think we’ve all seen enough Zack Mckinstry at 3rd base to know that treating him like some sort of pseudo everyday 3rd basemen is a terrible idea on defensive purposes alone
But hey, this is the same org that took flak for not signing Matt Chapman on a 1 year deal and told the fanbase to go to hell essentially because “well we have Jace Jung he’s gonna be so good at 3rd even though it’s he hasn’t played a lick of 3rd throughout his minor league development since his days as Texas A&M and we don’t need Chapman”

Colt Keith made a 13 OPS+ jump from his rookie year to last year and is only entering his age 24 season.
With Kevin McGonigle, Max Anderson, Trei Cruz and Hao-Yu Lee on the horizon it should help limit Trey Sweeney’s PA (326). Andy Ibanez (193 PA) is already off the team. I don’t see the infield being that big of issue.
The lack of depth in the OF is concerning. Matt Vierling, Wenceel Perez, Jahmai Jones… Max Clark? Anyone after that?

Well yeah, 8 players (min 350 PA) had a wRC+ above 100. I think it would be better to replace the players that didn’t see time in the playoffs.

I watched McKinstry’s ABs in the playoffs. We all did. We need someone else.
