Oh My…The Atlanta Falcons Just Got A HUGE QB Update During Their Head Coaching Search

Atlanta Falcons QB news: The Falcons have done something ridiculously smart when it comes to Kirk Cousins. Falcons Today host Trace Moustakas explains his thoughts behind the Kirk Cousins deal, and what this will mean for the dirty birds heading into the 2026 NFL season with a new head coach and new front office.

ESPN On Kirk Restructuring
“As part of the restructure, there is now a guarantee in the amount of $67.9 million for the 2027 season that vests March 13. Given the high unlikelihood that the Falcons or any team that would acquire Cousins via a trade before March 13 would want to be on the hook for that $67.9 million, a decision on Cousins’ future could come before that date. The restructure also included reducing his 2026 base salary from a non-guaranteed $35 million to just $2.1 million, a difference of $32.9 million. That amount equals the increase in his 2027 compensation that this amended deal includes, just split differently. The restructure does not impact any guaranteed money already owed to Cousins.”

  1. Carson Beck would not be a good option. When it come to my qbs I'd honestly want to keep Kirko chains as a very expensive insurance policy incase we can get Mac Jones or Malik Willis. The NFL draft is way to weak for qb in out position. Keep MPJ for his rookie deal just so we can see what he's got.

  2. Fontenot was in no way a GM the choice to hire him was as dumb as hiring Raheem Morris (smiling weirdo)
Blank and Mckay are the biggest pair of incompetents in the history of the NFL.
What a waste of money on Cousins, and dumb choice in Penix and dumb choice of Pits and Ridder! Fontenot you little nerd!!!

  3. There is some major Falcons hate out there in the commentary, coaching, and wider NFL community that will more than likely result in Harbaugh not taking the Atlanta job. Sorry for being so pessimistic, I’m a Falcons Fan afterall

  4. Ur mistake of assuming that Kirk would stay is perfectly excusable and understandable. Don't sweat the small stuff buddy.

Now u mentioning Pickens on the Atlanta Falcons is a mortal sin. Unforgivable! 😁

  5. I feel like Penix is gonna be an injury bust. We should have never drafted him. He really didn't wow me and has no touch on his throws. Plus a 3rd ACL injury? Yeah no thanks

  6. Harbaugh is an interesting idea, but I still think Brian Flores could be our guy. He turned around an awful Miami team, and got fired because he refused to tank a game for a draft pick.

  7. Harbough has proven he can win with a game manager QB so long as he has a run game and a good defense. I think we will be fine without going all in for a new qb for a year or two.

1st things 1st though….gotta BRING HARBOUGH HOME MR BLANK!!!

  8. If I were Harbaugh, I'd want a year off. If he wants to keep coaching right away, I would love to get him for the Falcons. Clint kubiak seems like the next best choice as well. Got to go offense got to go leadership, organization, thinking ahead. Just got to move forward. Things are not looking so bad right now actually

  9. And Penix at this point is probably the bridge QB for the next HC if he can't find a replacement to fit the mold and cap space. I'd say keep him because it would help A LOT with the cap space problem thatTerry and Rah left us with

  10. I always love for the Falcons bring some former DAWGs on board, but maybe not Pickens. He needs a settled, no nonsense coach to keep him in check.
