(Rapoport) BREAKING: Buccaneers fire OC Josh Grizzard

  1. Honestly feel bad for grizzard. Had to follow after coen and had to deal with the most injuries (o-line, WR) of any of the past 3 OCs

Hope he gets another shot somewhere else. I don’t think his ideas where bad it was just unfortunate circumstances

Edit: now baker has to have another new OC for like the 8th time in his career

  2. After watching him call the same play like 6 times in a row I knew he had to go

  3. Biggest changes need to be made on the defensive staff though. Let’s see if Bowles can stop being loyal and fire some of his friends.

  4. If we really are keeping Bowles, this had to be done. Need an offense that puts up 50 to counter our shit show of a defense.

  5. Kinda feel a lil bad for Josh first year oc lots of injuries having to deal with Bowles all year. Shitty special teams…. He’s young enough though to get his footing back
Somewhere else and maybe be a good oc someday

  6. He will be with his buddy liam in Jacksonville. He Will be in queue for another oc job.

  7. He definitely needed to be fired but the first person to be fired should have been our ST coach.

  8. Got dealt a shit hand but dude was a horrible situational play-caller. Could not do anything outside of the opening drive. I think the IQ is there, but the football instinct is not, or at least not yet.

  9. Grizzard seemed like a good dude, but he was 100% not ready for the job. Can’t blame the guy for jumping at the opportunity though. I’m sure he’ll land somewhere and get more opportunity. It’s too bad we can’t just “demote” him to a position like he had before, but I get that’s not how it works.

  10. It’s sucks for him because the injuries really derailed anything he wanted to do. But it was pretty obvious he was not an elite OC/playcaller like Coen. Coen had injuries too and he was able to pivot to featuring players like Otton that kept the engine running. It was a level of creativity and thinking through a problem on the fly that I don’t think Grizzard is (currently) capable of. Now the real problem for us is that these genius playcallers don’t grow on trees. I feel like the Glazer’s instinct is going to be to hire someone with experience, but if that person is on the street then they likely have a flaw in their game. So do you risk hiring an inexperienced up and comer again? It’s worked with Coen and kind of with Canales… Tough situation.

I wonder if we threw highest-paid OC money at Monken if he would leave Harbaugh and come back to the Bucs.

  11. This was step 1 of my “I can be OK with Bowles next year” process.

Step 2 is equally as important – hire an actual DC. Do not let Todd run both the D and be HC.

  12. While he deserves to be fired, they’re going to scapegoat him instead of doing the right thing.

  13. This was needed.

DC needs to be fired next, since these owners won’t fire the head coach.

ST coach should of been fired by now too.

  14. Genuinely asking, how Grizz before our ST coordinator? Thank God as it needed to happen, but ST was so ass we just started doing nonstop touchbacks. They literally didn’t even want to give them a chance to fuck it up.

  15. His offense performed better than our defense, yet the DC gets to keep his job….

Also, offense had insane amount of injuries all year: offensive line and receivers, plus Bucky.

Defense really only missed 1 starter for the year in Calijah Kancey.

This is not consistent discipline by ownership at all.
