Go sign Valdez. Top of the rotation, LH pitcher. Because they are the O's, they most likely have to overpay and pad the deal. You don't want to have to sell your entire farm system in one offseason to get 2 pitchers. Sign Valdez, keep the farm and get your guy.
I wouldn't sign either Suarez or Valdez a contract with more than 3yrs! Signing either for 5 or more is a bad decision! I'd pass on both and trade for Peralta! I'd also trade for Gore and Sign Tucker. Screw Valdez and Suarez! One is getting older and the other has health issues! Valdez or Suarez will Not be enough to even win WC, let alone getting too the ALCS or the WS. Do what I suggest: and O's go to the WS! The time is NOW! Screw the farm and spend! Toronto spent over 400m last yr alone!
Sign both, Valdez, Suarez, Bradish, Rogers, Baz. Three 1s a 2 and a 2.5
No way your giving you more for Peralta, than for Baz. Peralta is a rental. But its players and then the money. Although I would argue that the pitching money is down a little bit, so maybe now is the time.
If their all in on winning it all this year rather than 2 or 3 yrs down the road, You have to spend what you have to spend to get the players you need to get you to the promise land. Sign Suarez, He’s overall the best available, Valdez is a clubhouse nightmare, Peralta may cost you more than they may want to give at this point. I would also like to see them go for Kyle Tucker, Dig in those deep pockets and make it happen.
Why do the O's need to sign Peralta after 2026? Odds are they get the 1 year, make a qualifying offer then receive a draft pick after he signs elsewhere to recoup some of that prospect capital they gave up to acquire him, same as Burnes.
Irish, Bradfield, George, Gibson, Wells, Povich… for Skeens. And throw in Kjerstad & Mayo if necessary.
Sign Valdez. Keep your prospects just in case during the season. No trading for pitching unless they are under control for multiple years. No more 1 year rentals.
Hopefully people who said, "Go get Cabrera, doesn't matter what they want" see now that it took the equivalent of trading Holliday, Mayo, AND Beavers to get him, probably more actually because of Holliday and Mayo's lack of production in the majors thus far.
