Ben Cherington says that he’d still like to add back some pitching to the roster, and continue to add to the position player group, notably the left side of the infield.

Every single resource should be invested into upgrading 3B. I am completely comfortable with trusting in-house options to backfill the rest of the roster if they substantially upgrade 3B.
So basically he wants to add a depth lefty SP/RP and a 3B. I think pretty much everyone knew that at this point, but it’s useful to hear Cherington confirm it.
I’m really hoping for Suarez to fill the 3B spot, but I think Moncada is way more realistic. For the lefty SP/RP, I’d love to bring back Quintana but I’ve read reports saying he doesn’t want to come back to the Pirates. Regardless they don’t need anyone too crazy good to fill that role, they could have kept Falter to fill that spot.
Austin Hays.
Jordan Montgomery.
Yoan Moncada.
I think that’s a realistic rounding out of the roster that fills holes and is affordable.
Lmao fell for it again. Oh well. I can do other things this summer
Uh you better add to the left side of the infield 😭
Could Cruz not be an option moving back to SS or even 3B? Maybe the market has dried up in terms of righty left side infielder options and they could look to add another outfielder? Haven’t dove into available options in the outfield but focusing specifically on 3B sort of limits the options.
Need a left handed arm and a right handed bat.
