2. Okay, let's just be clear here, if the Mets sign Tucker and allow him to Opt-Out after one season, it would go down as one of the dumbest deals in Mets history. Why, would the Mets sacrifice Two Draft Picks, Bonus Pool Money & Lose International Signing Pool Money to have Tucker for just one season??? Simple answer here, it wouldn't. If and ONLY IF the Mets signed Tucker to say a 4 yr, $180 million with Opt-Outs after years 2 & 3, then I could live with it. Having two guaranteed years of Tucker is worth losing those picks & what not.

   With all that being said, I still believe the Mets would be better served holding onto all draft picks, sign 1 yr, high aav deals, continue to grow the farm system, have the bullets to make a major trade at the deadline (if needed) and allow some of these youngsters to prove themselves. Wouldn't it make more sense to sign say Harrison Bader (CF) & Dom Smith to 1 yr deals, continue to improve Run Prevention and give some of our prospects a chance to make the team??? I would say yes. This free agency has been incredibly weak and lacking of star-studded players. Rather role the dice on some youngsters and proven veterans.

   At first glance, this may not look like a decent lineup but it is deceptively decent. Clearly, this lineup is top heavy but how quickly Mets fans forget how locked in Alvarez was after the all-star break. He hit 8 of his 11 homeruns with a .921 OPS. If Alvarez has a healthy season, he could easily eclipse 30 homers. Bader not only provides gold glove defense at CF (Run Prevention) but had a near 4 War (3.9) season. His bat has improved and would be solid in the bottom half of this lineup. Baty showed massive improvement in 25' on both sides of the ball. Benge has a high ceiling but more importantly, probably has a higher floor. Skies the limit for this kid. Lastly, Dom. Smith. A lefthanded Fielding 1B with a nice glove and solid stick. He hit .284 in 25'. He provides little to no power but that's not needed out of the 9 hole.

   To be honest, I would love to see the Mets also go 1 yr, high aav on SP's as well. Many, many options available. Unless the Mets are willing to spend on players not attached to QO's like Bellinger, Bregman or Eugenio Suarez, my idea is the smartest option. No need to overspend on mid-tier talent on multi-year deals. LGM!!!

Mets are not the leaders for the services of any current quality Free Agents …… $340M budget with go-ahead to go further is an April Fool's joke ….. the lost Diaz over $3M over 3 years ($1M/year) and you seriously think they will be anywhere near $360-$375M ……. I call bullshit on the Mets signing Tucker OR Bellinger OR Valdez OR Suarez …… the Mets are clearly in tear-down and payroll cutting mode. Stearns is more likely to sign the corpse of Tom Seaver than anyone of quality. Rumor has it he inquired into Jim Abbott's availabiltty thinking that with just one arm, he could get a good deal. Wardy, I think the world of you, but continuing to push this utter bullshit is bordering as irresponsible.

When all is said and done, it will be reported that the Mets finished second in ALL quality free agent pursuits so they can sell the bullshit narrative that they were in on everyone and were in competition until the end. It's all BULLSHIT ……. they are in a rebuild and honestly, I think they have buyers remorse over the Soto contract …… I can see Stearns praying everyday that Soto opts out after his 5th year here to save the last 10 years of that obscene contract. Why would you sign a player to the richest contract in sports and then put nothing around him? This organization is an absolute disaster ……. I have been a Mets fan since 1964 and cannot believe what I am seeing.

And get at list Framber Valdez or ranger Suarez for a better rotation.

39. I like your reasoning about all the connections between Tucker and Mets, but backing up the brinks truck for any free agent this season, especially Tucker, seems pretty unrealistic. You said it yourself, he wants more money than Alonso, so who are we kidding? If we wanted this production we would’ve just signed Pete.
